Half Marathon Training Plans

So, it’s been a long while since I have run anything at all (even exercised much to tell you the truth), but I have set myself a goal to run the Harvest Half Marathon in Calgary this year. My assumption is that it’ll be the last weekend in September or first Weekend in October as usual, but there is...

I hadn't noticed that... but that would get irritating, I know the Calgary Marathon was, and still is, quite prevalent in my facebook feed.

2012 Harvest Half Marathon - Who's in? (Sept 29)

I am doing this race this year for sure. I am NOT going to sell my bib like I did last year for lack of training. I did not train for my Calgary Half this year, and punished myself by running it anyway. Now, weeks later, my left calf muscle is finally relaxing enough to run without it hurting afterw...

That one came from MEC and that is why I chose it. It has lots of slots and would be what I would want.

Re: Calgary Marathon 2012 - new course

I noticed that the Half is almost exactly the same as last year, only run backwards, and a few side trips that take it off course a little. I think I will like the change as it will be familiar but different. Oh, and NO GEL STATIONS on the Half at all.....I usually relied on their course for that, ...

I am more interested in the half and where it's going since I am already signed up. I am going to go to the reveal tonight just so I can enter the contest.

Re: GPS Watch Can Be an Unreliable Running Partner

Also nice to know, is the fact that if you follow a straight line running, it will show you veering off track for a bit, then suddenly snap back to where you actually were running, and then slowly veer off again. Plus, ever leave your Garmin on while on the treadmill and find that is shows you ran a...

Re: Calgary Marathon 2012 - new course

I don't think the big hill was popular in this era of "fast and flat" races. Furthermore, after the initial spike in registrations for the 2009 debut, Calgary's numbers have regressed back into mediocrity. (IMO, part of this is that Calgary has always been inferior to races like Red Deer ...

Calgary Marathon 2012 - new course

I have already set my goal for next year in the half.

They just announced yesterday that they are changing the course.. to be announced in January.. should be interesting to run something different than the past three years.

Movie was great, got a great shot of my wife directing you, then going up the hill with the girls chearing with noise makers, but then you cut out at the bathrooms at the top of the hill where I was... :( :( and cut in again at the bottom of the hill turning towards the water station.. Went to softball last night, played a game and a half.. most of it in the outfield where we were peppered with tons and tons of grounders, flyballs, and any imaginable way a ball could get out there (yes, it was a sad set of games)... anyway, to the point.. foot feels fine.. no pain or weirdness at...

CITY CHASE Calgay today.... I would have put in some running today, but I think 6 hours of running around the city to be enough. I'm going to wear my Garmin just to see how far i've actually travelled.. although some of it will be by transit, it will be interesting to see the results of 6 hours of it.

Re: Weird Ankle Pain

Sounds like it could be posterior tibial tendonitis? Rest, ice... Worth getting checked out of it persists. tibialis posterior travels behind the medial maleolus (the bump at the inside of the ankle) and then into the plantar aspect of the foot. Tibialis anterior travels more in the direction you a...
