Re: New to running!

my fave for winter running https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5017-316/MICROspikes-Traction-Device A nice running down front vest is helpful, I got one on sale last year from Eddie Bauer, then you can layer the long sleeves underneath that. I think in Calgary in the winter you might want a balaclava at t...

Re: Trail shoe replacement suggestions

Thanks NIcholas! I have been eyeing pair of sauconys on thelasthunt site.. goretex and $84.. I had a look at mec a few months ago, should go back now that I'm looking more at shoes than camping stuff. :) and typically, it is rooty, not lots of verticals (I'm anti-hill haha) but certainly uneven terr...

Re: Trail shoe replacement suggestions

Thanks for your thoughts! I might be the same since the only shoes I bought for "trail running" actually didn't seem to work well. We do have a running store in town (guelph) but they don't have great trail shoe options, more road shoes. I'll keep looking though!

Trail shoe replacement suggestions

Hi everyone! Past few years I've been running trails in Merrell Siren trail light hiking shoes. Doesn't make a lot of sense oerhaps, but they seemed to work well, and they had sticky soles that were nicely grippy (vibram soles). They were perhaps a tad narrow as they split eventually at the ball of ...

Wow - I thought the tough mudder looked intense but the video on the page for this makes it look harder (although I guess it's a shorter race). Ottawa is sold out, anyone running Toronto or Montreal?

Re: Warrior Dash - Looks like a Blast!

I'm hoping to do this with a group of a few friends. It looks like so much fun, and for me is a feasible distance also. I did the mudrun last year and had a great time, even though the route got messed up somehow. Only downside is that weekends in July are competitive.. with all the different things...

Great trail run today with the exception of my trax breaking ( a wire coil popped off of one of them) and me falling like a doofus. Luckily no one saw

Re: Run with new friend FRIDAY

so i went running on the trail a bit later today, it was getting rather dark amidst the cedars. i started thinking to myself, wondering what time packs of coyotes start to become active. then i kept hearing the jingle of a zipper tag on my vest and thinking it was a dog tag on a collar; but of cours...

this is so helpful right now as I think I will finally need to get some trail shoes. Are any of these Mizuno ones ok for pronators? I currently have Mizunos and love them, although I can't remember what model they are right at this moment..

just a second vote for pigeon pose from yoga.. there are a few seated postures also that are helpful for stretching this area, although i can't remember their names and my description would be laughable.. so i recommend a good yoga google search. :)

i'm only popping my head in because when i read the title of the thread my initial thought was "hot running" as in "hot yoga" and i thought this was a new crazy regime or something! and pts, you can always book a run date with me.! as long as we find a trail or path somewhere, i'...

Re: Lululemon for Running

I picked up the Run: Team Spirit Long sleeve top the other day. I am so in love with it!!!! Haven't run in it yet but I love it!! So silky smooth, has a larger neckline (to allow the heat to escape) and has that thumb hole that I love. :) Did you get the yellow one? there is one on the website i th...

lovely if somewhat disjointed run this morning down by the river in guelph.. it was a bit too mucky yet (perhaps i was too optimistic in my hopes that the trail would be tolerably dry). had a few stops and starts as hasan the dog and i attempted to negotiate the obstacle presented by a woman with a ...

running/sport shirts for long torsos

Any suggestions on brands or shirts for people with longish torsos? I have a hard time finding workout or running wear that is long enough for me.. and I don't think I'm freakishly out of proportion. I am happy with a lulu runtech tank during the summer but long sleeved and short sleeved coolmax typ...
