Re: Barkley Marathon 2018

Over.

At 36 hours two runners are on loop three. Neither runner is eligible to continue to loop four. #BM100

Conditions just too bad.

36h cutoff to start lap 4 coming up in a few minutes... no sign of the two runners.
Seems over. Nobody is going to finish this year. Maybe fun run.

Re: Barkley Marathon 2018

Yeah all the hand wringing about the popularity of the event gets pretty annoying after awhile. It's like watching Kurt Cobain interviews.

MEC had a big fuss a few years ago when a group of members put an Israeli boycott to a vote: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/mec-governance-changes-sparks-dissent-among-long-time-loyalists/article26852082/ I'm kind of curious where this ends... Re: Barkley Marathon 2018

The Real Keith @keithdunn At 23:05:35 Gary Robbins finishes loop two. #BM100 8:40 AM - 25 Mar 2018 60 hours, 5 loops, ~12h/loop... but last year he finished lap 2 at 20h18. So quite a bit behind the pace he needs I think. https://twitter.com/keithdunn <-- best place I've found for updates. https://...

Just committed to Storm the Trent! I might have to buy a new bike before then, and I am committed to getting strong. Our team caption is going hard core and expectation is to win the whole damn thing! So yah I need to up my game. Which version? We're doing "just" the "Hike" agai...

Team Sky, British Cycling in doping trouble

There's been something fishy there from when Wiggins climbed his big old butt up mountains with the featherweight little dudes... Track cycling at the Olympics was fishy too. Glad something is finally coming to light.... maybe. First few drips. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/new-details-emerge-abou...

Re: Too many races ?

For trails, the demand is still outweighing the supply. Races are filled and sold out months in advance and as a result the prices have ballooned. That is a different problem from what he's describing, but it frustrates me. :/ Why is that? Not enough RDs willing to set up races, or are the Conserva...

Yeah exactly. It's like asking if there are too many restaurants - if there are today, there won't be in a few months. The market will decide which are viable.

Re: Vulture Bait 2017

Aaaanyway enough about me... :) The race itself was really great. Course was tougher than I had remembered, though - definitely needed trail shoes, especially in the wet. I had it in my head that the first ~6km was pretty representative of the first half, but it really isn't - it's easy and mostly d...

In short, I don't think it's heart condition related - was checked out by paramedics at race finish due to paranoia, but all normal. Ran yesterday, all was fine, heart was fine, responded normally to increases and decreases in pace. Suspect a combination of humidity and lack of sleep, maybe f...

Suckage Just curious, if you had not known what your actual heart rate was during the race, just known that you felt you were working to hard do you think you would have gotten as scared? Probably! I was really hitting a wall every time I'd try any kind of exertion, so it would have still been clea...

I DNF'd. I don't know what went wrong - just felt completely off, barely managed 25km, let alone 50km! Heart rate was going bonkers and crashed completely.
