First run after the NCM. Legs are still feeling it a bit so will take it easy, but excited to get back on the road and inhale some good ol' city smog. 10k tonight plus some hills if I'm feeling up for it at the end. P.S. Haven't congratulated everyone on their Ottawa weekend yet. Sorry to hear about...

Good mornign all, and a big congratulations to all those who ran Mississauga yesterday. Can't wait for the race reports. Today is a day of rest. I ran 21k yesterday and the ol' ITB felt a little skiddish after 15. The absolute wrost was when I had to stop at a light for traffic and then start again....

Beautiful day this morning ... guys came early to open the pool. Can't wait for the early morning swims. I took a huge leap into the unknown and did my first ever spin class yesterday. My ITB, which is usually the bane of my existance, was a non-factor ... didn't even feel it. Speed work tonight at ...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think the concensus is to tack on the distance before I tackle adding lots of speed which I'll do with hills and speed work. I'm in what I think are my mature years (27), although very new to running (less than a year). A lot of the challenge comes when I get too comf...

I'm training for the run through the Running Room so I am running 5 times a week. LSDs on Sundays (~4:50/km), speed work on Wednesdays (4:00/km) and tempo runs on Thursdays (somewhere in between). I would definately like to get up. Yesterday I chipped in at 44:13 for 10k, but it was Sporting Life. I...

Distance Before Speed or Speed Before Distance?

I am in the midst of training and just yesterday it dawns on me that I may not be training properly for what will be my first marathon. The thought actually crossed my mind during the Sporting Life 10k yesterday that I have been training for distance, as opposed to speed. Clearly if you don't make t...

Good morning! I'm looking forward to speedwork tonight with a 10k jog afterwards. I really hope my legs hold out. Ottawa just three and a half weeks away. La - what is runpub? Sounds like a strange hybrid of running and a visit to a pub, both favorite activities of mine. You may be on to something. :D

Good morning everyone!
Had my first pain free long run in 3 weeks yesterday morning. Looking forward to doing a very easy 10k after the markets wrap up today. I might even step into the weight room for the first time in 3 weeks. Yikes!

Thanks for the input. Unfortunatally it seems to be constantly there, not just when I run. I've stopped running over the past week because of it. Funny enough I have a very hard time finding it when I probe, but when I stand on it I can feel it in full force. I looked into Morton's neuroma and I don...

Yup ... I said it. Sorry to all of you who just had a sharp pain run through your foot. Last week I started getting this pain on the bottom but very outside edge of my foot, and up onto the side. Bad description I know, but let's go with it. I went to see a new physio, and she dosen't really seem to...

Blanken ... awesome stuff! I have been a fairly competative rugby player since I can remember. I played in the Under 19 World Cup for Canada (where I seperated my shoulder in my first minute of play trying to tackle a now professional Kiwi) and still played up until last year (I'm 27). This year I d...

Harry Rosen Run Help

Hi everyone. So I was very late signing up for the Harry Rosen run and it sold out before I could wrap my head around it. I was out with my sunday morning running group yesterday (in sheet rain mind you), and one fo the girls in the group can't make the run and asked me if I wanted to take her entry...

The only song I would asdd which is A MUST for any run is:

I could listen to that song on repeat for a run and never stop! :D

Good morning Maniacs!
Thursdays are becoming my favorite runs of the week. Not too sure why, but I always feel unstoppable!
Today is what a like to call a day of rest, which means I'll just be in the gym, not on the road.

Off Road Training

I have been training in a gym for years and have never really taken on a "runner specific" gym program. Probably because running has not been the only activity I take part in and require the upper body strength that most runners don't. What sorts of excercise is "runner specific". I do a lot of squa...

Hitting the hills tonight. Followed by a Mexican feast! Not too sure if that's a good combo or not, but that's what's going to happen! Ha ha.

Last night was the first time in a while that I got really excited about the upcoming race season.
