Great job organizing the pace bunnies again Mark.
I was right behind the 3:25 pace bunny and as mentioned in another thread we met a big crowd of slower half runners when we got back downtown. He did a great job maintaining his pace as he worked through the crowds over the last 3 km of the race.

Re: ORW Weather Forecast . . .
I'm not sure how much of a problem people cutting the course at that point is. I've run the marathon 8 times now and this is the first I've heard of it. Personally I've never noticed a problem with the signage there. It seems clear to me and if people are paying attention there shouldn't be an issue.

Re: ORW Weather Forecast . . .
I was with the 3:25 marathon bunny and we met up with a huge crowd of half runners when the courses merged downtown. I spent most of the run down Colonel By on trying to get through the crowds to maintain my pace. No complaints though. It was a tough situation and the organizers did what they had to...

Re: ORW Weather Forecast . . .
It seems to be an issue every year. Fortunately it is still early enough in the week that the forecast could change a bit. For the marathon the last two years the conditions have been decent to start but was hot by the time I reached 30-32 km. It can make for a tough race but I wouldn't miss it. Can...

The interview was tough to watch. He seems like a decent guy. Maybe canal runner is right that he was never meant to go sub 2:12 but I was hoping he would pull it off.

I don't get it. I wouldn't feel any sense of pride running Boston by getting in this any.
I didn't buy the fireman's story either.

I still intend to run Boston. I'll take a shot in the spring at taking more time off my qualifying time. If not I will try and register in September with my 2:31 buffer and hope for the best.

Thanks or the mention Mark. I know there are no guarantees that my time will get me in but it feels good to have met the standard.

Re: is it too early for Ottawa race weekend weather obsessio
Cooler temperatures than this past week would be nice. I try not to think about it too much because it will change between now and it is the one element of race day we can't control.

Re: Timeless Running
I did not wear a Garmin or watch on. Yes a friend was running with me for the first half and he did mention the average pace to me a few times. Other than that I was on my own for the race.

Re: Timeless Running
It's been an interesting experiment so far this year. I generally pay regular attention to the average pace on my Garmin and adjust accordingly. Not having it with me for my first two races this year I had to stay focused on maintaining what felt like a hard pace. It has certainly provided me with s...

Re: World Record Sunday
Montreal Marathon for me this morning. It was already 17 at the start so I knew that a pb was likely out of the question. I started out at my goal pace and pushed hard for 27 km but it was just too hot to keep pushing hard. I took it easy for the last 15 km and finished in 3:36.

33 km for me this morning. I did the first 6 km at marathon pace then went back home and picked up my 2 year old so I could do the next 21 km with her in the Chariot at an easy pace. Finally, I did the last 6 km on my own at marathon pace.
