I posted a link to this in the General Running Forum a while back, but it seems to be more of a draw for the ultra folks. I'm in for the 6 hour

Re: Coming Soon: Creemore 100 Mile Challenge!

Thanks for hosting the training run Pierre! The weather was perfect and the course was nicely groomed. Hopefully this weather holds out for the next two weeks!

And for anyone who is still interested in running but missed the boat -- there has been a cancellation so there is still room for one more!

Run4RKids: January 5, 2013

I just want to let everyone know that the third annual Run4RKids will take place January 5, 2013 at the York University Keele Campus. This event takes place on the indoor track, with distances of 5 km, 10 km, 30 km, marathon and a 6-hour timed event. This will be my third time running this race and ...

Re: Seaton Trail

I'm in for the 50 miler. Unfortunately, I have a lingering chest cold that won't seem to go away. But I paid my money so I'll do what I can and bail if I have to rather than risk further damage before Sulphur. Also -- I'm with Hezzy. For some reason I don't recall Seaton being harder than PYP – more...

Re: Pacer for Sulphur

I've run 100s both with and without pacers and have had good experiences in both situations. For me, the benefits of a pacer have little to do with the difficulty of the course. More than anything, it gives you a mental boost and you have someone there to remind you what the heck you're doing runnin...

Re: Night run at Sulphur, Fri. May 4

I'm hoping to come out tonight for the run. I've been fighting a chest cold this week, so if my lungs are still intact by the end of the day, I'll be there. Luckily it looks like the rain is going to stop later in the evening so it should be a nice run. Especially since we're avoiding the super-muck...

Re: Kingston 6 Hour on June 9

I've done this race for the past two years and I really love it. I'll be back again this year. I wouldn't call it a "track race" exactly. Yes, it's an 800 m loop, but it's on a path that weaves through the campus of the military college so you're treated to a lovely view of the lake every ...

I have no doubt you can finish. I'll even go one step further and predict that your competitive juices will be flowing and you will finish in around (or sub) 10 hours.

Re: In defence of Ultra Running. Please chime in

Thanks for this Chris! Blogger Dan cleary has never actually seen an ultra, as emphasized by his comment: "These events don't really emphasize running at all". Huh? Anyone who clocks a sub-20-hour 100 miler (especially on a mountainous/technical trail) is doing very little walking, and is ...

It was a great day and wonderful to see so many maniacs this year! The RDs really paid attention to the feedback from last year, resulting in many improvements, including good music, better food, nice race shirts, etc. And after the race, they made sure to solicit everyone's feedback so I know it wi...

Re: Winter Beast of Burden shoe plan ideas

The screws are just plain sheet metal screws -- I got mine from home depot. Just make sure they're short enough so they don't actually go through the sole. And you only put the screws in the raised portions of the soles. Supposedly you can take them out and your shoes will be fine, but I screwed my ...
