Re: clif shot blocks

I've tried these, the sharkies, the power gel blasts and the Gu chomps. My favorite by far are the gu chomps - much easier to get down than the sharkies (less chewy) , still good after a week if you only eat half the package and I find the flavours much more palatable than the clif shots which I fin...

Re: Doonst has a Pleasant Dundas Valley Saturday, 5 Peaks style

Nice meeting you out there Doonst - it was perfect weather for a run and the trail was in great shape. Hats off to Dave for working the cone megaphone valiantly - I had a great day and most others I spoke to did as well.

Re: Anyone running Seaton?

Congrats to all the high milers out there - I ran the 26k single loop and am paying the price for that alone - great to meet Killerz, UQ, JD, WestGrey out there, weather was almost perfect for running (minus the small hailstorm) and enjoyed the race immensely - full race report to follow shortly.

Re: Anyone running Seaton?

For what it's worth when I ran the trail run in January I arrived like I was about to host an awards ceremony with 15 different outfits, shoes, hydration etc (just a tad nervous you might say) - I ended up being much to hot and shed layers as I went which was a pain - I also lost 3 toenails which ar...

Re: Anyone running Seaton?

I'm in for the 26K and the forecast sure looks like it's going to be a chilly, sloppy affair with a morning temp around 5 degrees and rain the day before and of the race - bring it on!

Well today is my daughter's actual birthday - up early putting up balloons..again :D - A huge Thanks everyone for the words of support. This event (while still frustrating to have missed the race) appears to be one of those turning points we occasionally hit in life as my wife and I ran 2k together ...

Thanks for the feedback - I think I'm going to venture into town and actually try the Inspires and maybe the Brooks too - have never worn a pair of Brooks but two votes here so worth sticking some toes in at least.

Shoes shoes......shoes?

I have more shoes than I know what to do with but with my foot expansion and increasing distances seem to have nothing in the closet for my planned endeavours. I started in the asics kayano 15s which were pretty good to me but heavy, went to the Gel DS Trainers (blister city) and then started using ...

My No ATB ATB Report

This is a cautionary tale of the dangers of running mania. I've been training pretty hard for ATB the past few months, throwing down the Chilly Half in Burlington and otherwise feeling pretty good about getting in a 2:2X time in based on training and unbounded optimism. Running mania can cloud your ...

Re: Feet Getting Bigger?

I went up a full size from my first year of running to my second year of running. I've maintained that size this year (my third year). Did you experience any drop in arch or other noticeable changes in your foot other than size? I think my arches are lower now, though the only evidence I have is th...

Feet Getting Bigger?

I'm now in my second year of running and within the year have moved up a full shoe size. I started running in Nov 08 with a pair of size 9 asics and a size 81/2 Salomon trail shoes which I used through out 2009 without any issues (ran up to 10ks in the salomons and a 1/2 in the asics). This year as ...

Somewhere in Hillsville, Virginia - on the road to Myrtle beach with the wife & kids. 5km on the hotel treadmill (when they say use at your own risk, they mean it!) - first run since Chilly Burlington calf strain - felt ok with only minor tightness, hoping for more positive signs.

Well since the mass of the planet is a constant value (excluding items we launch into space)this would suggest these people are gaining while somewhere else is losing....perhaps all our running is contributing to the problem

Re: For those who have foresaken Asics....

I'm with Andy - went from the Kayano 15s to the Gel DS Trainer (small toebox, blister hell) - now I'm on the Mizuno train - ran the Chilly Half in a pair of Musha 2s (my thought there is that 1/2 is too long for them, but they are a sweet ride). Just breaking in the new Elixir 5's - way better than ...

Re: Goal-oriented (vs. Schedule-oriented) Racing

Very interesting thread. As I started out last year running mainly 5ks , my main goal was time improvement. As I got better at it (but nowhere near 20mins) I started to want to run further. With no running experience I ran basically every training run at race pace (not so good at the reading about t...
