Sometimes I don't mind mellow/slower music -- when I into an easy run I just get into a groove and I just float along.

Thanks when I use it, too.

Re: Music While Running

Yesterday, I was chained to the dread-mill, ahem, TREADmill. I spent a long 30 mins watching inspirational running videos on Youtube. Hey, man...whatever gets you through.... Other than that, I tend to play full albums: Daft Punk, Feist, Florence and the Machine (Kiss with a Fist is an embarrassing ...

Re: Teacher missing after run

It wasn't until they found his body in the river a week later that the family divulged that the kid wasn't as happy-go-lucky as he seemed. That is part of the stigma of mental illness. I was very proud of the fact that when George Smitherman's husband went missing, they were up front about the fact...

True enough -- and they are a bit focused on the food thing. Their website is "Running Raw", so they likely directed the interviews in that direction.

I just think it's cool that at 64 and 68, they aren't saying, "Maybe I should slow down..."

Re: Couple in 60s Sets New Marathon Record!

This is my friend Alana's parents -- they are the COOLEST. They spent years living with their kids on a sailboat in Papua New Guinea, then decided to run a barge in the canals of Europe for a change of pace. In 2000, they ran the length of New Zealand. Because of all that history, I didn't think thi...

Daivd is a bit nuts, but a fantastic guy to go for a beer with! :-)

Seriously -- he's so inspiring. He started at 300+ lbs three years ago, and just decided to run...and run...and run...

Re: Are colour runs are a faux-charity scam ??

Yeah, the colour race is cheesy and silly, and isn't a non-profit. I would never have run it. Except that my 13-year-old daughter asked me to run it with her. We talked the whole way, and then danced together at the end. Call me a sucker. But for that -- I'll happily slap down my $20 per entry. Was...

Just an aside -- I had my first running article published in the current Canadian Running mag! It's the article on Niagara-on-the-Lake. ("Write what you know", eh?) I used to read Runner's World, but every January issue seemed to be "New Year, New You!" and that got tiring after...

I sooooooo need this weekend!
Doing 8k tonight, when it gets a little cooler, then planning 15k for Sunday morning.
Prepping for the Army Run, which is very likely to be a slow run, given that my training has been...ahem...erratic, this summer.

To prevent this, you can buy an exfoliating glove at Shoppers Drug Mart, and then moisturize every day. This seems to help a lot.

You could do this route as an out-and-back. Re: The runners wave?

As Gnu said, I live in a small town and wave/say good morning to almost everyone. I've determined that I do so for the following groups: a) those running b) those walking c) those cycling d) those who are running or cycling while I am driving (they never wave back...sigh) e) anyone who I either know...

Running in Montreal

Hi,

I'm going to be in La Belle Province today and tomorrow, and I'll be staying at a hotel on Sherbrooke. I could ask the concierge where to run, or go to MapMyRun, but I thought I'd ask here about where to run early tomorrow morning. Just looking for a 6k easy run. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I've just started my training for another set of half and full marathons. Hopefully the marathon will go better than last fall! I have 6k on the board for today, likely after the sun goes down. But yesterday, I knew the heat would be a beast, so I strapped on a heart-rate monitor, just to keep me in...

I, too, have one of those "stars aligned" babies. Perhaps as women get older, they have more aches and pains that can mask the signs of pregnancy. We are usually tired all the time when we're chasing kids, and add in training for a half marathon just to make the body achy and gastro-intes...
