Re: Boston Marathon Start Procedure?

Not alot more to add that others have not, but here are some comments. Bus ride to start, huge long line ups at Boston Commons, but don’t let it worry you, I was in the 2nd wave, got to the bus point at my prescribed time and was in Hopkinton in lots of time. I arrived and was sitting around for qu...

Re: Boston Marathon Start Procedure?

We did drive to near the start, about 3-4 K out. There is parking at a State Park and shuttles in from there. The roads were closed from here in and there was no waiting in line, as soon as a bus filled it went. Very easy going, no traffic jams either. We were at the Atlhete's village for about 1 1...

Re: Police Bike Auctions- anyone ever gone?

This is coming up in Winnipeg - has anyone ever gone to a Police Bike Auction? I figured there may be some good bikes available here, since so many get stolen :D Hey officer....surely you aren't going to acquire stolen goods? Sold through legitimate channels with the money going to a good...

Re: Treadmill use during training??

Opcougar-- if you read back the previous posts I think you`ll see that lots of people disagree with you that treadmills are useless for fit people, regardless of speed. Yeah, but he runs the 100m in 10.5sec and that's no bull; so treadmills are probably useless for him. With that kind of speed he w...

Re: Treadmill use during training??

I do not think that I would have been any faster if I had trained exclusively outside - it is hard to get a decent tempo workout in when the ground is covered with ice. The treadmill is a useful tool in training, but not the only one. As far as Winnipeg goes - your time will come. 1 Cdn Air Div is ...

Re: Treadmill use during training??

You can never replicate road running with a TM. It's good for obese people that want to shed some weight by doing cardio, before hitting the weight. If you a fit person, then it's just a waste of time, you are better off on the spinning bike, but some folks seem to hate that for some reason. I know...
