Re: Winter... To run or not to run?

I'll add my two cents. I generally continue to run through the winter. I use sturdy trail shoes, and they work on most wintery conditions, except sheet ice. I'll stay inside on sheet ice days and do alternative workouts. I don't own a treadmill, and never really got used to running on one in the gym...

Re: Do you run in the rain?

I'll run in the rain. I used to wear a rain jacket, but like ultraslacker said, you're going to get wet no matter what, so usually I just wear a regular long sleeve top that will keep me dry long enough to warm up, and a hat to keep the rain out of my eyes. As others have said, it's not that bad as ...

Re: Shoe Lace Tying... Whaaaat

I've tried that heel lock method and never got to like it. It seems like the laces are often too short to do that and make a good bow. However, sometimes I run the laces through the extra pair of holes in the regular way--seems to help lock down the heel, too.

Yes, some glorious warm weather here this week--owed to us from the lousy summer we had. I covered 6.5k today, some of it was running. Have a great weekend, all you Maniacs!

Brand New Day Wednesday

It's from a song we sang last year in my choir: "...the sun is a-shining and the rain isn't falling like it was just yesterday...it's a brand new day!" And that thought is especially for my sister in Houston, who's brand new house weathered the floods unscathed. Anyway, I covered just over...

Re: Sunny Sunday

MEC 10k Race this morning. :) It was actually a little short. Strava says 9.5km, and Bryan said that he measured a tiny bit short too, but close enough. I came it at 1:04:xx, which I was happy with, all things considered. Shout out to Mary for cheering and providing watermelon and gatorade! Congrat...

Monday of the eclipse!

We got about 60% eclipsed here; I watched it with my pin-hole camera. Before that I went on a nice run/walk in the woods (8.43k). I felt good today, maybe because the forces of the universe were aligned!

I walked 8.34k this morning, with a few running steps thrown in here and there. I walked another 3 or 4 kilometers this evening. It wasn't hot today, but very humid.

Re: Why are rich people drawn to endurance sports?

I don't think anyone addressed this point, which occurred to me just now: "Rich" people also play golf and tennis; these are sports are also beyond the financial reach of "poor" people. Are golf and tennis players also motivated by pain?

Warmer Wednesday

One of the warmest days we've had here all year, finally, summer has arrived in Sherbrooke. I ran 4.22k in the woods early this morning.

edited to correct a silly mistake.

Mellow Monday

Gosh, today just seems like one of those perfect storybook summer days: warm, a little humid, sunny, but with an early evening thunderstorm brewing up. I ran 4.5k in the woods this morning, before the temperature got too high.

We had a beautiful sunny day here, and I ran a slow, slow 5.5k on the gravel path at the high school. It was just what I needed. :)

And I did almost a half-marathon of running this week, too!

Ok, I'll respond first! Good on you for finishing that race, no matter what. I've had a couple of instances where I suddenly peed, and like you, I didn't feel like I had to go. It was just a sudden little leakage, which didn't continue on to a full-out drainage of the bladder. It happened only a cou...

Made it out of bed by 6:15 this morning, had my cup of coffee, then fell back to sleep! Will get my run in later; temps only topping out around 20 today, but we're having heavy thunderstorms and the humidity is very high. Have a great weekend, all you Maniacs!
