Re: North Face ECS- Blue Mountain

Just a few days to a great race weekend - here in Huntsville and also in Collingwood. Our numbers are down about 100 this year from where we expected them to be. That is OK. We will not compromise the quality of The Limberlost Challenge for any reason. Everyone gets to make their choice as to which ...

Re: North Face ECS- Blue Mountain

I would encourage everyone to choose The Limberlost Challenge this year. We will put on a great event as usual.

Re: New Ottawa Area 25k/50k Winter Race

I am signed up for the 25km race. This will be loads of fun. Who knows what trail conditions or weather we will get. That makes it exciting! New trail races are fun because you never know what is around the next corner. With Chilly Dog there could be even more variables. You gotta do this one.

Muskoka'shoe 2011

Hi everyone, I would like to invite you to Muskoka'shoe 2011. Held in Huntsville on Sunday Jan 23rd, it is a snowshoe race that will challenge you. Though not in the 'ultra' category, the 3km and 9km races will get the heart rate up. The venue is Arrowhead Provincial Park on a crosscountry ski trail...

Re: a night ultra at Limberlost...any takers?

It looks like there will be a race that will take over from ITT in August, which is great news. Not sure where we can slot in a night race ('Dusk to Dawn Ultra'). The race season is quite full. No surprise there, as trailrunning and ultras are the fastest growing segment in the running world.

Re: 100km

I know that this discussion goes back to July, but here goes anyway. A 100km race at TLC2011 is something the race committee has discussed. The initial reaction was "Where would we find enough volunteers to man the aid stations?" The discussion didn't go much beyond that. We had close to 6...

a night ultra at Limberlost...any takers?

Just putting this out there....Would you like to see a night race at Limberlost? 10-12 km course, 30 to 36km, 6 hour and 12 hour events, probably in mid May. Race would start at 7:00pm on Saturday (sunset at 8:38pm, sunrise at 5:52am). Pancake breakfast at 7:15am.

Re: Limberlost Challenge - new OUSER race!!

I personally think an hour head start for the 56Kers would be good. This gives even the slow folks a chance to get out there and settle into the trail before being passed by the faster people doing the shorter distances. How many 28 and 14 Kers were there? If there weren't many, I would leave the 2...

Re: Limberlost Challenge - new OUSER race!!

Results are posted. They will probably be tweaking the lists because a few people are missing their final lap times and are listed as DNF. We have some problems with the timing - fixable though. A gust of wind blew away one or two of the pages. I emailed all those who we think are affected by this....

Re: Limberlost Challenge - new OUSER race!!

I agree. I try to be courteous when people are passing but sometimes it's difficult to get my *ss out of the way. Expecially the sloping sections. Maybe do 56K at 7, 28K at 8, and 14K at 9. Here is a thought. If the 56km start at 7, 28km start at 8 and 14km start at 9, would the 56km runners be on ...

Re: Limberlost Challenge - new OUSER race!!

Hey everyone, You guys are the BEST! It was a blast hosting TLC, and the whole team looks forward to 2011. Yes, there will likely be a few changes. The staggered start would be one. What would you recommend? 30 minutes or one hour earlier for the 56km only? 56km and 28km? Did you notice that a three...

do the runners have to pick up their own poop too? :) (not that any of OUR members would be fertlizing the foliage in such a manner... ;)

There will be a bonfire at the 'beach' (small, but it is all ours!). I will have a steel grate that you can cook on. Bring a chair.

Re: Limberlost Challenge - new OUSER race!!

After the hardest bonk of my short ultra life last week at Creemore, I feel the need for redemption so even though I was trying to spare myself the long drive and the bugs, I just signed up for the 56k. Damn. See you next Saturday. JD, bugs are not too bad. No blackflies. A few mosquitoes, but you ...
