Late Fargo 10K report

So I was down in Fargo last weekend for the marathon. I'd originally signed up for the 5K on Friday and the half on Saturday, but given the foot issues I've had, I swapped to the 10K about a month ago. I went with family friends, so we all walked the 5K together on Friday night. The atmosphere was g...

If you want...talk to Holly about being added to the WW board here. There are a bunch of us. Many with more experience than me. :D We have a WW board here? I'm lifetime but need a kick in the rear to start tracking again... Plus I'd love to hear about how doing WW and running training can work toge...

Hey, this is Winnipeg in the spring...here we get deer AND potholes! :D

(by summer, they've had time to fix lots of the potholes...so deer & potholes are no reason to miss the MB Marathon in 2012, lol)

Come to Winnipeg, see the wildlife! While I've never done the full or half in the MB marathon, I can attest that I have never seen any deer decide to join the 10K course in June!! So if you want to join that one, you should be safe from rampaging wildlife :D And I agree with Darth from the WP...

I think my workout will be getting out to the polling station! It's about a block away from my house, but after Sunday's run, I'm back on crutches. I'll be voting today though!

WPS Half - DNF :(

Well, to get it out of the way, I called it a day at the half way point. My Garmin had hit 10.76 km, and I stopped just about at the relay exchange point. I forgot to hit stop for a while, I think it was about 1:20 at that point. I went into this undertrained, and with a strain in my peroneal tendon...

Re: Winnipeggers - WPS Half?

the deer collision was freaking scary - I was close when it happened, the deer took out a runner about 15 steps behind me. Will be posting a race report, but I'm still sulking that I DNF'd.

Re: Winnipeggers - WPS Half?

Well, I'll keep my eye out for any orange then on Sunday morning :D I'm planning to go for it on Sunday, failing any setbacks with my foot in the next couple of days. Given the lovely forecast, I'm unsure of what to wear that morning. I was planning on a t-shirt, but I'm wondering if long sleeves wo...

Winnipeggers - WPS Half?

Who's running this weekend? I'm still on the fence - I have the go-ahead from an AT to run with my foot taped, should I want to...it's feeling way better and should be okay by Sunday, but I'm going in way under-trained. At this point it'll be a "finish before they chase me off the course" ...

Pulling out of a race?

Ugh. Well, my training has been spotty at best this year so far. I strained the peroneal tendon in my right foot in late February, which led to a few weeks without running while it recovered. Add that to a bout with bronchitis, and my running lately has been limited to very short jogs and mostly wal...

6 laps to a mile in the same direction...but I went to a walk in this morning and he's diagnosed a strain in the peroneal tendon & told me not to run for a week. And stuck me on crutches for the next 3 days.

Not a very happy camper here!

Re: 2 days back into training...foot pain

concrete track sounds very nasty! i assume your running shoes are right for your gait, in good shape and not to old or worn out? Shoes are right according to the Running Room and another local running store, and are in good shape. I wore them for a few months last year with no issues at all. I iced...

2 days back into training...foot pain

So as I said in my journal post, I started getting an ache in my foot when running on the treadmill today. My first run in a few weeks was a 2.5 mile run + 1.5 mile walk on a concrete track last night. It wasn't a bad ache, but I figured it was a good idea to stop, so I biked for a bit. It got stead...

I'd love to order a hoodie but the budget says no until payday on the 28th - is there a firm deadline for when they need to be ordered by? And I don't suppose anyone knows the how the hoodie sizes run? the hoodies should be the same as last time, since we're getting them from the same supplier. I a...

Thanks guys! It was more my own personal guilt...I know I would be welcome here, but it was my conscience reminding me that I needed to get running again every time I thought of the forum. I've now put my RM buff hanging over the unused small towel holder in my bathroom so that it reminds me every m...
