Re: Future of RM

Not sure if this will even post, but this be my last on this.

Yes, the "over your head" comment was condescending, personal and out of line, I'm sorry for that one.

Re: Around the Bay - Who's in....

Do you even know what the definition of the word is? My point is, if she cheats at races, makes you wonder what else she cheats in. Get it now???? Because I dare to question the extent of your outrage, I'm therefore dumb. Got it. Time to update my settings on the board... A particularly funny...

Re: ATB - Help needed for kit pickup

Nobody willing to help? Maybe "able" would be a better word to use than "willing" - in my experience the group here is collectively always willing to help. ;) Saw your name on this thread and wondered if you were offering to pick up an ATB kit for someone! :D You need to reply i...

Re: Feeling blah when running - is there a better way?

I'm not a platitudes kind of person, you'll get plenty of that elsewhere anyway :) My point is that running is a pure sport, so there's really not much "to figure out". Ian wrote once that his love of running is based on its purity - you just put some shoes on and go running. However, both...

Re: Feeling blah when running - is there a better way?

It might be that you just don't like running. Not sure if the uncomfortable running is being caused by my dislike of running, or if my dislike of running is being caused by my discomfort. I certainly enjoyed it when I was younger. It's an inexpensive means to keep in good shape, and helps to booken...

Re: What's a few seconds worth to you?

How about buying a really nice [fast?] bike because it's nice to have nice things if you can afford them?

I've almost always had a lot more bike than I needed, or had engine to exploit, but it's my money and I buy good stuff.

Other people spend $1000's on collectable wine or furniture....

You and the author are wrong. Using the word " wrong " is why you are wrong. There is never anything wrong in any one person's approach to how they pursue their hobby or passion, be it running, needlework, scale model making or flower arranging. Any attempt by an observer to make a judgeme...

Re: End of the second running Boom?

A far more useful data set would be the total sales volume and units shipped of running shoes and equipment and its trend(s). Just because participation in events has declined, doesn't mean overall participation has declined. Your question ought to be, based on the data provided, "The end of th...

Thursday morning for me, but I suspect that the temperature I found to be cool yet comfy at 5am in Sydney was somewhat higher than in the COTU or Winnipeg. It's all relative, isn't it?

There are lots of real food choices that aren't full of protein or fat, have a low GI and are portable for running with. Lots.

Re: Nausea and bloating

IMO it's clearly the gels. Try taking on real food as your fuel source instead of gels, if you must use food fuel at all. Personally, I never used them in long training runs. I don't believe they are needed at training paces at all - one of the purposes of those runs is to train the organism to use ...

You do both. As Greg Lemond said, it doesn't get easier, you just get faster. Oh, and it takes years to build the strength and technique to get really good. Or [and] you could focus on the fun

Re: Hills

Climbing is about two things, one technical and physical. Technique in understanding how to properly use your gears will make a huge difference in how you approach a climb. I learned a lot from riding with other roadies. It's similar to how you'd drive a stick shift car up a hill; keep the cadence s...

Unless the fit is waaaayyy off (which is unlikely), it's far more probable you just need to get used to the rotated/forward position of a road bike vs a hybrid.
