Durham 1/4 Marathon?
Was out in Oshawa today and saw lots signs for a "Druham 1/4 Marathon" has anyone ever heard of this distance? I checked out the web site http://www.durhamquartermarathon.com/ and it looks like it would be a good course. The Oshawa creek trails are all paved and in the shade so it sound good and it ...

I hope that the race times thread is not the reason for your leaving us. You seem to be competitive and push yourself to be better. I think that that is the reason for the posting of race results so that we can compare and also rejoice in others accomplishments not to put each other down. I hope upo...

Up early this morning, off to work for a couple of hours, then it was off to a 5k race in the area of Scarborough (Toronto now) where I grew up. I proudly wore my Running Mania shirt and had a couple of people ask about it. One girl came up to me and said "were you at CTRR" and I said that I was not...

I have done up to 13 X 1 mile repeats at 7:00 min mile in training and I found it to be a very hard workout. Harder than hills and harder than yasso 800's I do not think that it is a good stratagy for a Marathon my best marathons have been even paces for the whole thing. PEC last year I was the 3:30...

Nice run. Dry heaving is good. Looks like you have gained some speed. Bummer that the race course was short. Don't you hate that? Not as much as I hate a long 5k. Last week I did the YMCA race in Toronto and the course ended up being 5.4k so I was not at all happy with my time, until I found out ab...

There are plenty of people who run your pace in the east end. You might enjoy your training more (especially the long runs) if you do them with a partner or two. Of course, I'm NOT volunteering to be your run partner because at my pace, it would be more of a long slow walk for you!  How...

just to add my 2cents. If you have an ultimate goal of qualifying for boston or becoming the best marathoner you can be, I'd recommend doing one just to get the feel for it. It's a big jump in training from a half to a full. Though you may not like the long slow runs, they are a necessary evil that...

For me it was a great spring season. I did 2 races and set PB's at both the half 1:22:23 and at 30k ATB 2:03:23. Still don't know if I will race a full this year but I think that is the way I am leaning right now. If I don't race a full I will be a Pace Bunnie at PEC again this year. I still have a ...

I could be modest and say it went pretty good. But I will give you the really excited version. WE WON! We came in first overall and with all 4 of us running under 20min 5k's on a course that had to be long. Our last runner ran Chicago Marathon in 2:47 there is no way he could not go under 18:00 for ...
