Re: Shoe Question
Eta: how did you get your hands on a pile of 30% coupons?? :shifty: I have been a group leader for the 10k clinic for the past 2 years and get a coupon at the end of the clinic, because you have to spend $50 I don't usually use them only for shoes. I thought there was an expiry date on the coupons ...

Re: Music While Running
I don't always listen when I run, but when I do I am picky. Not only am I picky about what songs I use, I often try to order my songs on purpose. Songs than slow build at the start, pump up songs, a few motivational kinda ones etc in the middle. My Run/Workout playlists ALWAYS include: Lots of Beast...

Re: May 11, 2014-Sporting Life 10K
After last years race I swore I would never run another Glassman race again. He is out as race director, but the press release said he was still advising.... I will wait and see if the new regime can fix the massive problems they had last year before I give them my money. Hope it works for them this...

Re: Salt Sugar Fat
This book helped to strengthen my will power, especially with so called 'healthy' snack foods i.e. granola bars. They are marketed as healthy, but are really no more healthy than a chocolate bar. It's called "health washing." Basically, if a product has to tell you how great it is through...

Re: After the 2013 fiasco, SportingLife 10K replaces RD!
I ran the first non-CRS year (2012). It was my first 10K, I was full of adrenaline, I paid $45 and got a $50 SL Gift Card.....I overlooked/didnt notice the problems. By the time I ran 2013, I had run enough races to realize that not closing off intersections, not having medical staff, letting the fi...

After the 2013 fiasco, SportingLife 10K replaces RD!
http://run.sportinglife10k.ca/sites/default/files/2014pressrelease.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This was the only possible outcome that would convince me to give it another try. Based on last year I will never run a Glassman race again. I will still await more details about the...

This reminds of the article I read yesterday about the fact that Nutella is not a healthy part of breakfast. They quoted a ton of people who they portrayed as genuinely surprised. How about a little common sense. Just because Lebron James is fit and he endorses McDonalds, does not mean you can eat M...

Re: Are colour runs are a faux-charity scam ??
Playing a little devils advocate here, but its sort of ironic to see all the "oh no someone is making money" sarcasm, because I am sure in a couple months when SportingLife and YongeSt 10k registrations open we will be back to the good old "Who cares if Sportinglife10k is a disaster, ...

As a Canadian who uses the Nike+ system, I am pretty sure you will find ALOT more Daily Mile folks
I use it, but not so much for the community features, but I'll get in touch anyways.

Re: Runners and racers
I don't race for the sake of racing much right now, but I do run "unique" races or ones that I have a history with. I run a couple races with a group of friends that we do every year, doing a couple odd distance trail races, a country road 8k up by my folks place....stuff a little out of t...

I bought an Engergizer one, similar if not the same as the one from the race, at Home Depot. Seems fairly cheap to me. Under $20 if memory serves.

Feed Zone Portables
I have seen a couple of sample recipes from this book and they seem interesting. I love the idea of using real food instead of gels etc.

Re: Agave Syrup and Stevia- better than sugar?
I am pretty sure sugar/sweetner is one of the most contentious arguments out there when it comes to nutrition. The article you linked about "sciencebasedmedicine" implied that Truvia = Stevia, and that is simply not true. Its like saying that chicken breast and a tofu-based chicken-shaped ...

Re: Agave Syrup and Stevia- better than sugar?
Wow. I wonder if this article was paid for by the sugar industry. Truvia is NOT a highly purified Stevia extract. Its an sweetner made with stevia extract (0.5%) and sugar alcohols (90%) and added flavours. http://www.dietitiancassie.com/the-truth-on-truvia/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return f...

Great article, but is there no end to the gibberish and nonsense of the comment section on any article on CNN. Sheez! Far be it for me to defend CNN, but that goes for pretty much any comment section on any article on any major newspaper that has a website. The Toronto Star comments section is vile...

Re: Hornet Juice
I am far from an expert, but I do know that Stevia is a leaf (natural), that is ground//powdered and used as a sweetner. It does not spike blood sugar like sugar AND sucralose. Some people find Stevia leaves a bitter aftertaste and don't like it, but I am fine with it. I tend to only buy whey protei...

Re: Hornet Juice
From the website "Hornet Juice does not contain stevia. Stevia is an artificial sweetener that is widely used in Japan but not FDA-approved as a sweetening agent and food additive.Hornet Juice contains Sucralose instead which does not have the bitter after taste that Stevia has." So Stevia...
