Re: Race day Sunday

1:55:35 for me at the Ottawa half! I would be disappointed if I'd actually trained properly as this is 6 minutes off my time last year, but it's about expected. Great conditions for a race, and I was relieved to be feeling good today. Yesterday wandering around Ottawa I was actually not feeling well...

Re: Sporting Life 10 KM

I'll be there! With my husband who is cursing me because he is not a runner and sortakinda misjudged what 10k is :D . Really like the shirt this year, but yeah, I could have used a bag to carry everything. All around me when I picked up our bibs yesterday people were exchanging their shirts for diff...

Re: May 12, 2013-Sporting Life 10K--promo gift card again!

Problems with the promo cards though - he never did receive an email with a link to his card, and I am having trouble redeeming it for an online purchase. Neither the PIN nor the bar code work. I have received a card or link or anything for the credit with my early January registration. In what for...

Re: 2013 Around The Bay

Around noon, the back end of runners got held up at the train crossing on Woodward Avenue near Walmer Road when a train passed by. The race has Canadian Pacific police on hand to ensure everyone stops safely, according to Race Director, Mike Zajczenko. It's happened before, most recently two years ...

Re: A (Sun)Day at the Races

Congrats to everyone who did ATB today, and those who saw such great improvements! As expected I wasn't too close to my time from last year of 2:47 but given my lack of endurance training my time of 3:02 (and I should subtract 3-4 minutes from that because of the train) isn't too bad. It's not "...

Re: 2013 Around The Bay

Women's shirt for the 30k is BRIGHT. Fluorescent pinky-orange with black sleeves and down the sides. My husband jumped when he saw it! And it does say "Older than Boston" on the back. Looking forward to this in a perverse sort of way because I feel so unready, especially compared to last y...

At the gym at 6:30 this morning for some time on the elliptical, then speed intervals on the treadmill. I was having a great final sprint...and my elbow hit the stop button. So I lost about 15 seconds! Then a bit of weights. I may just do an Insanity workout later this afternoon. I'm starting to get...

23 very slow km this beautiful morning! Finally starting to feel sort of ok about looming ATB. My training has been terrible so I have no expectations other than finishing. I think I can do that...but it won't be pretty!

Re: Septuagenarian Tuesday

I actually ran 10k today! This is huge as I've been in a major running slump, mentally speaking. Work has been keeping me so busy that running has felt like another job. With ATB looming and my longest run since my half in November being 15k, I'm getting very nervous about ATB. But I recently decide...

Re: Snowy Sunday

15 km with a few hills thrown in. I wanted to do at least 17-18 but my knee has been misbehaving lately and I started to get some warning signals after the hills so cut it a bit short. Beautiful crisp day with little wind.

Re: DHR 500 (aka "torture")

Thanks for posting this - I work at home and some days just don't feel like a run or going to the gym. Tried it yesterday, with 20 reps of each. Those burpees are indeed murder and couldn't master the plank up and downs. Yet.

15 km with hills around High Park this morning. Strange day...no wind, mostly sunny, and I thought I was dressed warm enough but could NOT warm up. Other than that, felt good. When I got home my husband said I was "emanating cold".

Re: SNOWY Sunday!!!

Leisurely but cold 10km this morning, getting back into the swing of things after a couple of light weeks. DS did the kids' run at Angus Glen yesterday - it's billed as a 1k, but let me tell you, there was no way that was a kilometer! He had a great time, though, and seeing what a nice setup they h...

No running for me since Monday! My schedule has been completely thrown off with this cold I've been fighting. But I bought new shoes today....for work I was in the Toronto TD Centre where a new Running Room just opened. John Stanton himself was my sales rep. I *think* I'm on the mend and may try a s...

14k with High Park hills today. After a summer of haphazard running because I hate running in the heat, getting back to hills has felt awesome lately. When I got home I worked on assembling an Ikea wardrobe. Given the kicking, cursing and bloodshed from the latter, it's hard to say which was the tou...

Re: Midsummer Night's Run 2012 (Toronto)

My mom and husband have decided to humour me with my running by walking the accompanying 5k events when I do a race. It's super cute. Unfortunately I guess the shuttle buses to the 5k start, and the start for the 5k itself were not well organized, so that was a downside. At least they didn't care a...

I did the 15k run too! I've never done this distance nor an evening race so didn't know what to expect but it was a good experience. I did it in 1:18-ish which I'm happy with even though I felt sluggish at times (I'm a morning runner! This dusk thing is weird to me!). I wasn't expecting my time sinc...

After a weekend of doing literally nothing but eating and drinking while visiting friends (does air hockey with the kids count?) and a break in the humidity, 13.7k this morning felt almost great.
