Sunny Saturday

Lovely day for a run here in the big noisy smoke. Just a little humid but not too hot. I did 13 km, bringing my 30-total up to almost 100 km and my 7-day up to a half marathon. Happy to be building distance, anyway! And then a swim after 8)

A 6k run to blow out the cobwebs before the 10k on Saturday and test race pacing. Probably not going to make 45:00 but I hope I can beat 47:00. We'll see…

Re: Race Sunday

Decent day for a trot in Toronto. After a week and a half of food and wine touring in Italy, I sure needed one—but am not in exactly top form!

Re: Sprinkling Saturday . . .

Lovely day to run in Toronto. 10˚C right now, sunny. The lake is high – lapping at the boardwalk in Marilyn Bell Park. I went as far as the NO TURN-A-ROUNDS sign at the legion, slapped it and turned around. :P 13 km.

Re: Running Wednesday

Speed intervals stuffed into an 8.3 km run. Got some work to do to get up to my goal, but it could be worse. Can't hold a 4:00/km pace for a whole kilometre… used to be able to hold it for 5 (!). I'll be happy if I can hold 4:30/km for 10 but first I need to add more miles. Might be hard to do with ...

Goodlife Marathon in Toronto was today. I wasn't in it. Don't think I'll be built up to a fall marathon either :'( – maybe a half. But I got out for a nice 11.6 km this afternoon. Lovely day for it, slightly cool but once you're running that goes away. :)

Spring is struggling to arrive, but at least it's warm enough to get outside. 7.4 km today. Hi, everyone! It's been a few months since I've checked in but I'm still racking up the kilometres.

Re: This is Wednesday

I was sorry to have to miss the island 5k on Sunday because of a conflict, so I signed up for the beer run at Ontario Place this weekend. My right glut (piriformis?) is being unpleasant with me, so I wonder if this was a great idea, but we'll see. Did intervals on Monday and a 6 km run with 1 km at ...

Re: International Bacon Day Saturday

Oh, hey, just had carbonara with no idea it was bacon day! My run was this morning but I've been busy… :) Finally cool enough to run at a good pace. Well, 20˚C, but that was enough to trim almost 4 minutes off 8 km from last week.

Nice, hilly, scenic 13.43 km in Cochrane while visiting my parents. Feeling good but some noticeable spronginess in my right butt, and I'm not confident I'll be up for a half marathon in a month and a half. Still, in decent shape. :)

Re: Sunrise Sunday

Beautiful run today. Visiting my parents in Cochrane. Ran as far west as the trail would go (half an hour), took a picture https://twitter.com/sesquiotic/status/764929642641883136" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , ran back; I would have tacked on another 10- or 20-minute loop, but a t...

Re: Vacation Tuesday

Didn't seem that hot when I was walking around, and it was cloudy too, but when I was running it got pretty punishing! Partly because it was a tempo run. Funny – last tempo run the same distance (7.96 km) I did 37:37, and this time I did 37:37. Neither is my best this year, though… But then I swam a...

Wet from sweat in Toronto. Doesn't take much to get soaking in this weather. Not sure when it'll be cool enough to interval training, but not today! Easy 5.8 km.

Moist Monday

It's not raining here in Toronto, but by the end of my run I was about as wet as if it had been. Sunny, warm, humid. I did 12.78 km in about 69 minutes. But then there was the pool afterwards! Always the pool!

Re: Sweaty Saturday

Thought I'd be getting my run in before it was too hot. Ha, nope. Already 29˚C when I went out. Did 11 km instead of 16. That pool was sure nice to hit after. I find that there's a two-day flash sale at RR. I can get new shoes for 20% off. Given that I am at 993 km on my current pair, I think it's t...

8 km run to the pool. Made it a tempo run, but not quite as brisk as I would like. Oh well. Realized my Garmin also has a swim mode (and is obviously water resistant), so I used it for swimming too. Might keep doing that.

Pretty nice here in Toronto for a switch, though it's supposed to get very sweaty tomorrow. Ran 8 km with some intervals in (my favourite kind: 30 secs slow, 20 secs medium-fast, 10 secs full steam; 5 sets, 2:00 easy-moderate run; repeat). Feeling pretty good now (was feeling kinda sketchy before he...

Re: Wet Saturday

Just a bit under 12 km today. Breezy but humid. It didn't get wet until early afternoon, by which time I had already had a swim and lunch and was walking back. But this weekend is the outdoor art show in Nathan Phillips Square, and it always attracts things like wind and rain, so I knew it would be ...

Sticky Thursday

The forecast is for brutal this afternoon, so I went out for a run in the morning instead (and will arrive later to work as a result). It was only around 20˚C but already sticky! Glad I didn't wait. Easy (but dripping) 5.4 km.

Heavy slow run, hot and sunny, into the breeze (cools you down and slows you down). But a pool at the end of it.

It's run-to-the-pool season! Made it a tempo run but couldn't make my target time because I had a brisk headwind most of the way. Oh well, it's still good exercise! 7.96 km, 37:13. Then 15 easy slow laps in the pool (while my wife did 35 brisk ones). And… beer and pizza by the beach!

Re: It's gonna be a hot Saturday!

Sunnyside pool is open today! I ran there (8 km) plus an extra 5 km (2.5 out and back), then we went for a swim and had lunch. Splendid. I did have a little foot cramping problem when I was swimming, though! Gonna have to get used to the swimming muscle use.
