Professional athletics.

30 years a guy HAD to work because you had to be an amateur to compete at the Olympics.

Not actually true. The amateur era ended well before that.

Re: Just in Time for Boston--There are cheaters in your mids

I don't care. It doesn't affect me personally and not a single person in the world was affected by this. Except the person whose spot she took in Boston. This happened prior to the new rules. Even before the new rules, Boston did fill up. So she likely did take someone's spot who tried to register ...

Re: Molly Huddle's Left Arm

You are allowed to defend your space. This move would be totally acceptable mid race and happens all the time, especially on the track.
Normally a person wouldn't try to pass so close. Even if she was passed there would have been significant contact and she herself could have protested.

Unless you think he was actually doped from childhood he is an off the charts endurance athlete naturally. That just wasn't enough for him.

I like how they spelled kerb. It is a British article. I had to look it up. :) Never realized this was the British spelling. I wonder if there are other words with such different spellings of the same pronunciation! They don't pronounce it the same. So "kerb" is "curb&qu...

I think a lot of the time it really is because people believe that asphalt is that much softer than concrete. There is a guy here who runs down major traffic routes on the road going with the traffic.

Re: Doping scandal at Nike?

[quote="Jwolf"] I don't think Goucher would put her career and family reputation on the line for "small potatoes". A lot more will come out in this story - we have only seen the tip of the iceberg. She said she first went to USADA in Feb 2013. Salazar has already smeared her name...

Re: Doping scandal at Nike?

Seems more likely the whole Nike team was up to little good, including Goucher and Fleshman. But if it's OK for Fleshman to be OK with confessing her errors then shouldn't Alberto just get to do the same if he's guilty? Fleshman is pretty vocal about people coming forward immediately and yet she sat...

I don't buy into the "if you want something badly enough, and work hard enough at it, anything is possible" mindset. And the reason I don't like it, is because it implies that if for some reason you don't attain the goal that somehow you are a failure who just didn't try hard enough. agre...
