Re: Sore ankles
So to update so far I went to the doc and had blood work but haven't heard back. I will get in to see him again mid march so in the mean time he said not to exert myself. (He really didn't have much to say to me and it felt silly for me going in). I took a while (a week and a half) totally off runni...

Re: Sore ankles
[quote="La"]Could also be low blood pressure, too. You really should see your doctor about that. Feeling like you're going to pass out and things going dark like you're in a tunnel sounds pretty serious. That's why they always say, "check with your doctor before starting any type of e...

Re: Sore ankles
It never hurts to get a panel done. Ask for the ferritin specifically (they don't usually do it unless you ask for it), and the fasting glucose, and whatever else the doc is willing to include. There's no harm in having as many of your numbers as possible, even if all it gives you is a baseline for...

Re: Sore ankles
my guess was low blood sugar, even before I got to the part where you mentioned it. However, if you are eating breakfast before your run and you haven't had blood sugar issues in the past, that may not be it. :/ Have you had your iron (ferritin) checked? Hmm. During my first pregnancy I was "s...

Re: Sore ankles
Update... I've been running every other day instead of every day and it feels much better. There is one thing tho that seems to have started up. I used to run 3-5 km at least 5 days a week.,. But changed it to every other day running 6-9 km. what has started to happen is that I get feeling really we...

Re: Sore ankles
Thanks Ian. I have increased mileage and run on ice/ snow pretty much every time. This makes sense as well as what others have said. Thanks for all the advice. [emoji1303]

Re: Sore ankles
Thanks for your answers! That makes sense. I am a little confused why I've not felt this way before now though. I've been running on this route since I started in September '16. I got new running shoes for ice and slick snow so that's what I've mainly been running in(since the ice and snow mostly). ...

Re: Sore ankles
I forgot to mention that yesterday I lost control of my car and went down a ten foot ditch. I wasn't hurt and I don't think this is why my ankles hurt. But just in case [emoji51]

Sore ankles
I searched to try to find the reason why but couldn't find anything. Today I went out for my run and my ankles were sore. It felt like a build up of lactic acid in my muscles or something. In my ankles? Both of them. Is this something I should worry about? Also a little bit of a weird feeling in my ...

Re: Walking ... how do you keep from boredom
Find somewhere new to explore. Or go with a friend. I really enjoy the alone time and getting my thoughts straight. Maybe pick something to hash thru before you go out for a walk. Although that may just be a personality thing... a worrier etc lol I also really enjoy nature and live in the country so...

Re: Wow, 70 YO Lady's Goals
Very interesting Dstew. I understand what you're getting at. And ultimately it is this older woman's (and all people's) right to do what they want with their body's. You can choose not to idolize or look up to her just as others can choose to. I doubt that a 70 year olds goal of 7 ultras in one year...

Funky Friday run [emoji12] In a good way.
I drove into town to run on clear, flat road and thoroughly enjoyed it. 5.5 km and hit a PR.... feeling good!

Re: Leader Saturday
5k today on icy back roads. Running in new shoes called icebugs because where I live is never clear road to run on. I am expecting to be a way better runner come clear road season... when there are no ice and snow patches or drifts to slog thru.

Wind chill -27 here too. Ran 4k and thought my eye balls would freeze. Probably shouldn't have tried to run past the lake with all the wind.
Went home and did some yoga.

Re: Hi! New here
Thank you. For sure I don't want to injure myself. I feel a little in shock from people saying it may be too fast too soon lol... because honestly I didn't think I was going all that fast too soon. But I also haven't talked to any other runner about my running except one friend who said I was fast b...

Re: New runner
Thanks so much for your answer! I think for now I'll stick to working on my endurance and being able to run for longer. I'm not interested in endurance running (say a half or full marathon) but interested in the 10 k distance. I've never raced or anything. Just want the personal success of running t...

New runner
Hi all. [emoji112] I started running in September '16 just once or twice a week at a 9min/km pace at best (for 1-2 km each). I am now running 4-6 times a week (4-5.5km each) at about 6:20 min/km. (Sometimes running slower, the odd time faster depending on how I feel... but pretty consistently at 6:2...

Re: Hi! New here
Thanks for your reply! I will try posting in the areas you suggested. Thanks for helping me out. I really have no clue as to my speed etc. I started running by myself and still do. I live in the country and mostly run on my back road solo. I've been careful about not running too fast. I don't push m...

Hi! New here
Hey all! I'm new here and thought I'd say hi! I've been running for 4 months so I'm a newb for sure lol. Not a stranger to exercise though. Have been cycling for a few years in the summer months and use my elliptical a lot. (At least before I started running). Hope I'm posting in the right area. Not...
