Re: Where to buy a cowbell?

I picked up 3 (a girl's gotta have different sizes!) at Princess Auto. That's the coolest, weirdest store I've ever been in.

Re: Where to buy a cowbell?

I had no idea this post would get this many replies - awesome! I'll check out Michael's and ebay. I never even thought about a farm supply place (doh! that's so obvious - using a cowbell on a cow!). There are still farms around so I'll see if I can find one of those. I would have been seriously disa...

Where to buy a cowbell?

Hey there, I'd like to get a cowbell to make some noise on the sidelines this year. I know I can buy one at a music store but I was hoping not to have to pay that kind of money. This will only be used for cheering on other runners (and for my husband and kids to cheer me on :D ). Does anyone have an...

Re: Aren't Dave & Lisa ...

Yes, I think we're going to postpone it until a future date. Too many other things have come up in the past two months and it just hasn't gotten off the ground. We'll put it on the backburner for now and make a more committed go of it in the spring time. Bummer but I understand. A part of me also w...

Anyone running Franktown this weekend?

Hi there, Well, I'm traveling to my first race ever (usually I run in local races) and I chose Where's Franktown? for my debut. It occurred to me that we have a number of maniacs in the Ottawa area and some of you may be running this too. Anyone else going to be there in orange? http://www.calvaryca...

Size is definitely an issue. I have a 5.5 or 6 quart one and it's not good for small recipes. I made the steel cut oats last night and while it turned out (yummy), I did have to add more milk to get it off the bottom of the pot.

Well, the strangest thing happened to me today at the grocery store. I got stuck in an aisle and as I was waiting to move forward I turned to my right and...voila! Steel cut oats were staring me in the face. I grabbed a bag and just finished prepping the "original" recipe as posted by MiniT. I hope ...

This was such a terrific race! It was great to meet all the maniacs and unload some brownies. Big shout out to Dave and Lisa for putting it all together. One of the best parts was seeing everyone come together to assist our race organizers. Thanks to everyone who contributed by bringing food,...

We'll bring our big portable table (I think it's 6 ft?) and I'm bringing brownies too (courtesy of Samantha's recipe and Kristi's recipe).

See you there!

Samantha - your recipe doesn't state an oven temp so I'm guessing 350, yes? (If it's there, I'm too blinded by the sight of brownies everywhere to see it.)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Trisupporter, I need to find out where toobusy lives :D

I tried toobusy's (aka Baker's One Bowl) and had similar issues. However, I think I just may have an inherent "you can't make brownies" gene since I tried a friend's "no fail" recipe and...failed. I'm finding this all terribly ironic since I used to make wedding cakes for a living. I'm trying Kristi...

I'm glad it didn't happen to me. I have a hatchback.

On a more serious note, I can't imagine having the ability to think through all of that. That's a pretty brave runner, if you ask me.

Re: protein powder - My sister in law is a dietitian and she once mentioned to me (it was just in passing) that you could get the extra protein in a shake by adding skim milk powder which is cheaper than whey protein powder. Just a thought. I have no idea what quantity she was talking about though s...

This sounds AWESOME! (doing a happy dance at the prospect of meeting all these maniacs) The only way we won't be there is if we can't get child care. (We don't have enough duct tape to hold an extra-tall 8 year old boy to the wall. That was hilarious by the way.) Make Me A Bib: JacSprat (coming from...

Looking for a chewy, fudgy brownie recipe

My 8 yr old is asking for brownies. I refuse to buy them from the store because they've got too many additives/preservatives in them. I have no problem making them but I'm hesitant to try any of the recipes I have because I don't know what their texture will turn out to be. I'm all about the fudgy, ...
