Re: Around the Bay - Who's in....

Came to visit the forum for the first time in ages to find out the answer to this question. :)

Ed and I are both in. This is going to be my first 30 km training run for Mississauga. And ATB #10!

Yippee!!! Very happy to report that on Tuesday I ran 6 km - first run since Boston. My calf felt absolutely normal, my knee less so. I won't call it pain but it was sort of "off". But so much better than it was. I wanted to run again this morning but had to be in the office by 8:00. Tomorr...

What a fantastic race and I loved your report. The pictures are real keepers. Congratulations on toughing out that last 7 km - that takes an incredible amount of determination.

Have fun in Boston!!!

Re: Cinco de Mayo THURSDAY

Good luck in your race, Spirit! I have been pretty inconsistent this week, only making it to the gym twice so far. Both times I did several miles on the elliptical. I was tempted to start running again, but resisted. Next week I'll try to get in to see my ART/physio guy to work some more magic. :) H...

Lazy day today (i.e.: didn't get to the gym this morning), but 5.5 miles on the elliptical yesterday morning. Thanks to travelling home the day after Boston, then working or having company since, I really haven't slept more than the minimum since the race. I am SO looking forward to having absolutel...

We have a family thing so no running, spectating or celebrating, unfortunately. But I look forward to the race reports.

Re: David Suzuki's 30x30 Challenge for May

I like it! But...there's no realistic way I can accomplish it within those exact parameters. E.g.: a good way for me to get that 30 minutes is to minimize commuting time on public transit by walking instead. But that won't be in green space and by default my phone will be in my purse/bag. So I'm goi...

Day 7 of not running, in fact Day 7 of hardly getting any exercise at all! We did go for a walk on the Leslie St. spit with my mom yesterday, and a bit of a walk today, but nothing strenuous. But, Mom's flight left about 30 minutes ago, and this week should see things get closer to the usual routine...

9k of slow hot running. San Antonio is having their biggest parade of the year. Downtown is bombarded with about 300,000-500,000 extra people. We watched some of the parade, went for lunch, watched some more, came to our hotel to cool off and heading out again to watch more. People have camped out ...

Nothing for me yet today. Going to go for a walk down by the Don River with my DH and my mother if I can get out of work at a reasonable time. TGIF (even though it's been a three-day week).

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Another rest day here. By now I'd normally have gone to the gym and at least done a little elliptical and some core work, but work is busy, and my mother is visiting, and so the routine is all out of sync. Oh well...none of that will last. :)

Re: Just in Time for Boston--There are cheaters in your mids

Apparently, there were around 3,300 fewer BQs this year than last. It's the second lowest percentage of BQs in the past decade with the 2012 heat-wave being the lowest. Curious how that would be factored in. Interesting. I'm not surprised to hear this, since almost everyone I talked to last night/t...

Not only that, you get yourself a Boston jacket, you get to go home and go to hang around the start/finish line at every local race wearing your Boston jacket and work the word Boston into every conversation. BQer: What kind of donuts do you have? Tim Horton employee: Err....maple dip...Boston crea...

I was thinking about this thread earlier today, and was wondering if there might currently be fewer cheaters than in previous years. Re: Just in Time for Boston--There are cheaters in your mids

We were talking a little about this at the post-race celebrations last night. With a BQ time of 3:46:xx and a Boston time of 4:19:50, I would float right to the top of the "to be investigated" list. But I am pretty sure that other race results and photos would show this to be an outlier. ...

Thanks to the trackers! It was a hot day out in Boston and sometimes there was a headwind. I knew going in that I was injured and undertrained so this was purely a victory lap. After doing Around the Bay a couple of weeks ago, I knew that 30 km was realistic, and said that if I could make it that fa...

Wednesday was 35 minutes on the elliptical, followed by core work and stretching.

Physio in the evening - felt really good to get some of the soreness from Sunday worked on.
