I chose the third option, but that's because I try to do "multitask" while traveling. When I lived in Montreal, I've traveled to Toronto (because my family and friends are there too), NYC (also to see my DH..but come one, do you really need a reason to travel there?) and Ottawa (because you have to ...

Such a good half...I have raced it 3 times ('04 by myself, '05 with my hubby and '08 with 4 of my lab buddies). Can't do it this year, though. :(

And, from the sounds of things, it looks like it's going to be an RM party at the 21K Mtl this year! :D

Our dog is smart like stump. We've had the gentle leader for about a year and she still pulls like heck every time I try to walk her without it. Berners are bred to pull so that isn't much fun at all. Darla's the same way (she's half lab/half collie). I can only walk her with just her collar after ...

I went out for a 4K run with her this morning. I'll run some errands, and then this afternoon, me, Mr. Cheermidget and Darla are going to 110th...

By the end of one, can't remember what it was called, sitting down bring soles of feet together and opening out legs, my body was curled over my feet and my head was actually resting on my toes, didn't start out that way though. In sanskrit it's called "baddha konasana", which means bound angle pos...

Last night, I met up with framboisine, BJH (and Mr. BJH), Ian (and his mom) and we saw the Hallowe'en parade on 6th Av. Well, more like we *tried* to watch it, but there was such a crowd and certain short people could only see so much. :P I just came back from a 5K with the husband and the dog. Afte...

Okay this is going to sound strange but I roast green beans and I love them cooked that way. I got the recipe from Cook's Illustrated magazine. I've also made roasted sesame green beans. Here are the recipes: Roasted Green Beans 1 lb. green beans, washed and ends trimmed 1 Tb olive oil 1/2 tsp. salt...

Training for and running my 2nd marathon (Quebec City 2004). I no longer had the "first marathon jitters", I was in my running groove, trained with a really good group of people from the Westmount RR, and my DH and I were in the "just starting dating and totally in love stage", so he would wake up w...

Re: Who's not a runner here?

There are some people here who never talk about running and never seem to be racing. And not because of injury... Some people don't feel comfortable posting their daily run/jog/etc. distances on the daily thread because they're not training for anything particular..I mean really, after reading page...

seven years later, Sept 11 still makes me a little sad... I agree. I can't help but remember exactly where I was and what I was doing on that awful day. Such a state of shock. This morning, as I was running along Riverside Drive, I passed by a huge memorial service for FDNY members who lost their l...

Re: Anyone running Nike's Human Race?

Sounds more like a marketing scheme than a great race.. When I did the Nike RunTO 5 years ago, they hosted training runs throughout the city, with their shoe test vans present. If that isn't enough of a marketing scheme, they gave out bottles of water and bananas with Nike RunTO logos on it. I mean...

Funny, I did a search for a similar site for sit ups and nope, didn't find one. I guess it's because sit ups are "easier" than push ups and people usually (I think) do larger numbers in a set anyway. (At least, that's the impression I have.) How about plank? They're much harder than sit-ups, and th...
