Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Darn it, I jait gave away a ton of newborn clothing! But, I have two special newborn/ small things that I had a sentimental attachment to and didn't want to part with, but I know you would give them a good home!

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Denise, I have an exersaucer and I think a baby chair you can have. Strollers/carriers. The only stroller i have liked (and I have tried a few) is the BOB. LOVE it, works well on snow and is comfy for kids from baby to bigger (G fits in it still, he doesn't go in it but he fits!). I bought the car s...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
I found that with babies one and two I lost right at the start then held on to the last 10ish lbs until they hit a year or so. This time I better get rid of that last 8lbs when B hits a year (in two weeks). Fingers crossed.

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
I just wanted to pop in to say I am in awe of all you mommas running! I have been continually sidelined with an injury that does not want to get better (seriously, I am sooo sick of limping!), but hope that a rest from babywearing/stroller pushing to school and back will give my achilles the rest it...

Re: On the topic of Selling/Buying Race Bibs ...
So how much longer until the "secondary market" for some of these races is controlled by opportunistic scalpers? (Specifically, buying one or more bibs with no intent to run and then reselling above purchase price.) I don't know anything about concert ticket scalping, but in sports the wh...

Re: Ham roast dinner?
Ham is "cured" as opposed to "cooked" so you're really just heating it through. You don't have to worry about the inside not being cooked if you take it out too soon. Worst case is it's not hot enough in the middle. It's not like turkey where you'd end up with raw meat in the mi...

Re: Marathon Training with a Full-Time Job
The whole point of the article (and the photo Turd posted echoes this), is that people who are inclined to run marathons are already high achievers, so they figure out a way to get everything done. My point is that "busy" is often an excuse. "I'm too busy to run" usually means &...

Re: Ham roast dinner?
I just spoke to my farmer and she told me it is the thigh, also called the "ham shank" part. Umm, gross. I talked to a chef at the market and she told me to shave off the skin (gulp!) then cut gashes in it and brine it a bit, the cook on high 450 then down to 325. Oh dear. Anyone want to c...

Re: Ham roast dinner?
I don't really know what kind of ham, except it is from a Berkshire pig we met last year. So, not precooked, I hope it doesn't have bones and stuff...eww. And no to scalloped potatoes. D got Norwalk virus after a dinner that included scalloped potatoes, he hasn't touched them since! Keep the ideas c...

Ham roast dinner?
I am planning one for next weekend (birthdays for D and my mom). The problem is, I don't know how to make ham (I am a longtime vegetarian), or how to put sides with it. We don't eat food with sides generally, we are more a curry/stir fry/Mexican etc one pot family. So, side ideas? We will have lots ...

Re: Fresh20 - Meal Planning Service
Is it seasonal at all (like do they have you buying fall produce for the most part?). Interested but I try to buy seasonal produce (and we have a CSA box) and I am worried about waste. And I also don't eat tofu much, if you get any veggie menus can you let me know the types of foods please? Thanks!

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Ok, Moms, I have a question... Does anyone out there have a link to a good site or company that sells nursing necklaces? I need something. Morgan likes to grab things when she is nursing, and if I don't have the right kind of shirt on, the thing she grabs is a handful of me. It hurts. I know about ...

failed is a strong word. ;) attachement parenting has MANY more meanings that just wearing your baby. :) Thanks , you're right I know. :D But I must be the only momma I know who actually wanted to bedshare, only to end up with a baby that absolutely hates sleeping in the bed with mom and dad....

I was going to say almost what hammie said (#2 easier than #1 for similar reasons, wait to see how you feel, etc) so I'll just say "+1" :). This, by #2 I was better with knowing I could run when exhausted and that my chubby body would return. #3 was a terrible recovery though, super easy ...

First of all, congrats Quick Chick! I look forward to reading about your progress! :D So I need a favour and I'm turning to the RM's for suggestions. I'm an "old" mama. All my friends are done having babies, and out of the stroller stage. They aren't much help. My baby hates riding in a s...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
The important thing is to give your body time to heal and yourself time to adapt to the changes being a parent brings. This. It will be different for every person and every pregnancy. I had a 3rd degree tear after my first that was very sore. I was up to 8km after 4 months. After my 2nd I ran 6 wee...

Also, I was doing some thinking, how many months will you be mid to late August? We could run a 10k togethe...

Re: Vegetarian vs. non vegetarian
I really resonate with your post. I have been a vegetarian since I was 19 (first time on my own at university). My mom tells a story about serving fish when I was young and we had a fish tank and when I put two and two together I refused to ever eat fish again! My husband and kids eat meat and we kn...

Ah sleep. One day we'll meet again, right? My 2 1/2 year old still rarely sleeps through the night. I function on coffee mostly. I am currently brewing cup #3 of the day. It is actually not too bad, I go to bed at 9pm most days.
And yes IG- that one (or sometimes two) days a week is amazing!

Nice to see a 9 year old with motivation beyond what game they want for the Xbox. Let's not generalize. Have you heard about the 9yos described by the people in this thread who are active, smart, and funny? Or the 8 (almost 9) yo who played very patiently with my 4yo son all morning this morning be...
