Re: Thursday's Thoughts

Just over 9km this morning. I thought I had overdressed (that was the plan), but I was freezing the whole run. I am not a winter wimp, but it was nasty this morning, cold wind and the most crappy footing. Well hopefully that is the last of Pup having to wear his coat of shame and we can get into som...

Re: Montrail Sjpes - Comments/Reviews/Recommendations

I bought a pair of the Mountain Masochist II OutDry Trail Running Shoes this winter. I was looking for a "Gortex" shoe to test for YAU100 (2014). I must say after they were broken in (after a couple of wearings) I am quite happy with them. They are great in/on snow. I would not sway from L...

Tepid Thursday

A couple of degrees warmer out this morning(-26/-35), still left Puppy at home (his limit is around -20). 1hr - 11.85km jog this morning. Pretty good run and last one for a couple of weeks. Taking a self imposed break as we head on vacation for MrsStrider's birthday - then it will be full on trainin...

Re: WTF Wednesday

-29C / -39C with the windchill. Too cold for puppy this morning so left him at home, and he really didn't seem to mind. They were saying that this could be the coldest day Ottawa has seen in 8 years. Cool! 12.6km in 1:03 that included 30min tempo effort (managed a 4:36/km pace). Pretty happy with th...

He was grumpy until he got his treat after 30mins and was much happier then. Funny thing is that he knows our routes, so as soon as we "turn" for home, he is bouncing along.

1hr, 11.5km easy run with pup. He wasn't too thrilled with having to wear his coat this morning.

Tomorrow is tempo in -28, pup will likely only come out for the warm-up tomorrow, and that could be a challenge

Re: How cold is too cold?

At around -40 the layers and clothing you have to wear get a little Thick/Heavy/Stiff that it makes "running" difficult so that seems to me the more limiting factor over the actual cold in my experience. That said, if I want to run the YAU100 next year I need to be able to run in -50 (That...

Re: What- no Thursday Thread???

Pup and I were out the frigid door at 5am for 15.3km this morning. Coldest day by far this year. Puppy was not happy with me at all. After running in Mexico before Christmas though I almost prefer the cold. 10km in +30 is really tough, -25 is easier to run in.

Happy New Year everyone.

Re: Yahoo! It's Friday!

WHAT is up with all these Long Runs on Friday? Jealous I am...

For me a beauty 45min, 7.9km run on the NCC trails. Nice loop from P20.

So what is up with these squat things? Are we doing them in 1 continuous set? Deep squats (as in butt to the ground)? I did 20 in the parking lot.

I don't get what the " ab______ " means. Sorry I didn't want to call her out by name... This was from yesterday's (Wednesday) thread I sat starting at the screen, trying to figure out why there was no Thursday thread  The combo of sick hubby and kids, school plays and other work fun...

Thursday thread is HERE ab____

Morning, Good time to be taking a step back week and going on vacation. Tired this morning, and have had a couple of restless night’s sleep. Slow out the door .... Workout was 8x2min with 90sec recoveries. The first interval was a tad slow and then locked in the pace for the remaining 7 - they were ...

Wednesday's Workouts and Woes

Easy recovery run today as I have another "workout" on the schedule for tomorrow. Perfect mindless, effortless run. A little chilled at times, but nothing a hot shower couldn't fix. Just over 10km in 52min.

Strength at lunch.

Tuesday's Tales

Another solid workout in the books. Legs felt good out the door, but it was cold, dark and windy out so seemed to take a while to "want" to run. 20min warmup, 35min Tempo, 15min Cooldown - Both Puppy Strider and I seemed "rough" for the first 10mins or so of the tempo and then we...

Where's Sunday?

Sounds nice ng - glad you didn't get shot - day 2 of B2B weekend 90min easy - 30min steady - 15min easy. 25.7km today on top of yesterday's 29 makes for a good weekend of training. Feels good to be back to this point.

Re: December 6 - Day of running and remembering

51min / 10km this morning. Feeling not too bad from yesterday, left ankle feels a little locked (got MrsS to yank it when I got home). Nice crisp and dry morning out. Perfect for running. Kept the pace pretty easy for the first 40min and then picked it up a bit at the end. I swear we had a ghost fol...

Re: Windy Wednesday

Wicked wind One of the best workouts for me this year (and yesterday was a terrible run) - Today was warmup, 7min tempo, recovery, then a ladder of 90sec-3min-90sec x3 at 10k pace / 5k pace / sub-5k. Nailed each one feeling stronger as the workout progressed. Puppy was so into the run too this morni...

Move it! It's Monday ....

Up and at 'em. Good start to the week. Monday morning sluggish and slow out the door but kinks worked themselves out. Loads of bunnies for Puppy Strider this morning. By 40min I had seen more rabbits, than cars and people combined. 52min - 10.3km Done! 30-40min Elliptical at lunch. Have a great week.
