Re: OUS 2012
I had a moment of panic when I noticed that a longer distance was not added to Limberlost for next year (as I was hoping this would mean a longer time cutoff), then I read the FAQ and noticed the cutoff has been extended to 11 hours. Woohoo! Such a tough course and I will need every minute I can get...

They've moved it to May 12 next year. The RD is hoping for some better weather after the madness this year.

Re: Advice for first Hot Yoga session
I would add that you may start to feel nauseous from the heat/humidity. There are some poses in particular that bring on nausea. I lay down and focus on my breathing when this happens and I'm usually okay after a few minutes to get back into the practice.

Re: Marathon runner caught bus to the finish line
I would disagree with the statement that a finisher's medal is just a thing. I know it's an object, but to me it's also a symbol of what I completed. It has memories of the race attached to it. The mother could have rewarded the child in some other way for what he accomplished. She could have made h...

I'm sure if you cooked it longer than the recommended time it would become soft. I made some earlier this week and liked it. I cooked one cup and ended up with probably at least 3 cups of finished product.

Re: Moving from 25 K to 50 K
I've used this training plan before (note it's in miles), and am actually using it to train for a 60K in March: http://www.trailrunevents.com/ul/schedule-50k.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Last year I ran my first marathon, 50K, 12 hour, then 50 miler (yes 50 milers take me way l...

Re: Signs of Food Sensitivity?
Was the pizza particularly greasy? If you haven't had fast food in a while it could have just been a reaction to that. I know that if I am "good" for a few months and then have something deep fried or greasy it makes me feel ill. I've never vomited though.

Re: OUS 2012
Thanks Chainsaw! I'm going to assume that Kingston and Ottawa will not fall on the same day as other OUS races. So based on this, I have an entry for ITT 32K up for grabs if the RD will let me transfer it. I deferred my entry this year, but I'll be doing the Endurrun week of races so won't be able t...

Re: OUS 2012
Noooooooooooo! Creemore is the same weekend as the Boiler Maker in Utica, NY. Now I have to choose between running 50K in a frying pan and having Creemore beer at the finish, or running 15K and having Matt Brewing Company beer at the finish (whatever that is). Although the Boiler Maker website indic...

OUS 2012
I see that the Dirty Girls 2012 date has been confirmed. Does anyone have the inside scoop on when the rest of the race dates for 2012 will be posted? I'm itching to update my race calendar for next year!

Picked this up on the weekend. Any suggestions for seasoning to use with this? I'm planning on using it as a side dish with dinner. Would cooking on broth vs. water have a big impact?

Re: Best song to finish a race to
I have a few favourites:
The Pot - Tool (although it's like 7 minutes long so you'd have to plan when to start it)
Under Pressure - Queen and David Bowie
More than a Feeling - Boston
Just Like You Imagined - NIN (an awesome instrumental song)
Cathartik - The Tea Party

Re: FitFreeze - Fat Burning Ice Cream
Selling a meal plan (recipes) and exercise program I get. Some people need guidance in that aspect and can't necessarily go to a PT or nutritionist etc. But the supplement thing is pretty crazy in my opinion.

Is it just me or is there something ironic about a trainer on a show that doesn't allow people to use supplements to lose weight, selling supplements that supposedly help you lose weight?

brown rice
I currently use the Uncle Bens Perfection brown rice that cooks in 10 minutes (5 minutes on the heat, 5 off). I switched from white to brown thinking it is healthier. However I was looking more closely at the nutritional information the other day and noticed there is no fibre in it. I am wondering i...

Re: Run for the Toad - Training Run
If you look at the results for last year and years prior to that anything over 8 hours is showing DNF (some have times a little after 8 hours). However they will let you finish regardless (barring bad weather). My friend finished after 8 hours last year, so he's showing as a DNF, but he finished the...

Re: Run for the Toad - Training Run
They've made some improvements to the course (depending on your point of view) and put down a bunch of gravel since last year. I didn't run it last year but I heard it was a mudfest. However from running the training run this year I noticed that a lot of the sections that have the potential for beco...

Re: Congrats to Maryka!
Maryka rocked it this weekend! I was there crewing hubby for the 12 hour, as well as helping out Jack K and Jeff A. I had originally signed up for the 6 hour but decided to skip it as my calf has been bugging me and I wanted to be okay for the Toad this weekend. I also had mixed feelings on the idea...
