Re: KBO's Chicago Marathon

Congratulations on your awesome race. You are so right in the amount of commitment it takes to get to the starting line. The race is often the easy glory part with others to lift you whereas as the countless thankless miles in the terrible weather and early mornings pay off on race day. Your consist...

Re: Endurox's Twin Cities Marathon

Good Luck in Chicago this coming weekend!! KBO and Binge runner will be there... BQ seems easier for us old ladies, NY Marathon is harder, they really keep rif raf out like me.

Re: Endurox's Twin Cities Marathon

Thanks so much everyone for your remarks. I truly reccommend this marathon, you won't be disappointed. I don't usually look around much during a race but this one you just have to, so beautiful. The leaves hadn't changed colours like they usually do and I guess the weather has been iffy but just one...

Re: Endurox's Twin Cities Marathon

No Boston for me. Sounds terrible but I have run that race twice and its great for the experience but the logistics of it and the course make it impossible to have a good race time on that course. BUT I like to have a qualifyer in the back of my pocket in case I change my mind or a bunch of friends ...

Endurox's Twin Cities Marathon

They call it the most beautiful urban marathon in America (Minneapolis-St. Paul) and they are not lying! It is by far the nicest course I have run so far. The organization was excellent, down to the hot broth you get at the finish line, the crowds line the streets like in Boston, there are bands you...

Re: Marathon 1, Lisa 0- Waterfront report

Ah Lisa, I really feel for you. Having read your report you sound so much like me! I think we are our own worst enemies. We put so much pressure on ourselves and its hearbreaking when the training was there and it doesn't turn out like we expect. I had beginners luck with qualifying, probably becaus...

Just read MikeRuns comment on his first marathon being his best. I have to agree, for me ignorance was bliss. I had basic knowledge, I was hungry to push my body but never ran with a watch, listened to my body and did not know how I would feel at each mile so there was no dread or knowing too much. ...

From what I have read, the running coaches, experts or whoever recommend setting 3 goals when heading into a marathon. One that you are striving for and ready for if all goes good, one that you are okay with and one for when the wheels fall off. We all know our paces, training and lead up races can ...

Punks! I feel for you. I encountered similar behaviour during a 20 miler I stopped at a well known waterstop in Winnipeg, the Duckpond shelter and found 4 punks approx 12 or 13 yrs old smoking inside, what a lovely thing to enter into while refilling my water bottle, after 12 miles I was fiesty and ...

Newtons!

Just wondering if anyone else out there is presently running/tried Newtons. I didn't realize that shoes with midfoot cushioning were hard to come by. New Balance recently made one and someone told me about Newtons that are often found in Tri stores. I found them in Seattle back in May, they felt lik...

Awesome run Steve! I had a real good feeling you would PR here but never said anything as I did not want to jinx you.
