I'm in for the 5k in Hamilton tomorrow; I believe Doonst is doing the 10k at the same race.

Re: 2011 - 5k/10k/21k Speed Challenges

I'm registered for the 5k tomorrow in Hamilton; running this one on residual fitness from the HIM and marathon training and I think I have a reasonable chance at <20min. Maybe this will be my last race of 2010

Re: 4 min mile (treadmill, decline)!

I've been toying with the idea of putting my bike on my treadmill to see if the speedometer on the bike matches what the treadmill says. Make sure you video that experiment and post the results! I'm sure you'd have a candidate for the grand prize on AFV ;) He wouldn't have to be actually on i...

Re: Gains from just running more (Poll)

Tempo runs are a form of "speed work". OMG! Quite obviously I and others (including your coach) have made a distinction between tempo and other forms of speedwork and yet you feel some pedantic need to chime in with this comment - completely out of context to the rest of your respo...

Re: Gains from just running more (Poll)

You'll make far more gains from tempo runs than you will from speed work. It depends on the distance, I don't think your going to get fast at a 800-1500m by doing tempos. Really, based on what? Speedwork is the icing on the cake and tempo runs are the cake. Without cake, icing will just make you si...

Me too, but when I get to working hard it changes to 1 step in and 1 step out. I bet I'm moving more oxygen than if I were breathing one breath for 8 steps. That's true. I'm just wondering how you are able to fill your lungs when you breathe so quickly... or is that not the point?? Do you breathe a...

The size will likely be okay, as long as the present owner isn't some freakish shape with excessively long torso or legs (or you are! ). Good luck!

Make sure it's the right size. You're going to get some advice about bike fit and such but at this stage you only need to make sure the frame is going to be about the right size for you. Do you know what size it is? How tall are you, what's your inseam measurement? Second; take a look at the chain a...

Yep. I'm not fluent though, I need Google translator to help me. I do have to practice as I'm heading back over there several times in December/February.
