Re: Quebec City Running Routes?
Well I had a fun time and good running. Certainly hilly over there! Turd I had to do the stairs - grueling yes but I think I'm in good fitness. I didn't "race" them but I ran the whole thing - 3:14 it took me to go up :) and then I just hit the lap button and continued along. We also did t...

Re: Boston 2015 Field size
Jen, I thought the field size for 2014 "aka" the special year was 36,000? And it sold out in record time. The tragedy brought renewed interest and support.
But they always have to cut off qualifiers.

How are you dealing with the crazy cravings?
I know I go through cycles of good and bad eatings but now I think it's getting ridiculous. Lately, like yesterday I ended up eating 3 chocolate bars + half a bag of nachos, all while waiting for dinner. Even dinner wasn't that great with a like practically a loaf of bread, ceasar salad, and a big p...

Re: Tight Hamstrings
I've been having a lot of success with active isolated stretching (AIS), proponets - Phil Wharton, Meb, and my coach. Honestly, since doing it 3-4x a week (before after runs, etc off days), for the first time in forever I really have no long term muscle tightness anywhere. Doing it after a run is al...

Re: Have you lost too much weight trying to get faster?
No, if anything running leads you to eat cleaner. This and weight loss are two correlated events but not necessary more related than that. Often since you burn more calories, runners tend to eat more junk. But then you start loosing the taste for high fat things and grease and salt start turning you...

No run but over 17kms of walking with my wife - beautiful day. Plus we decided to walk to a friend's house rather than drive.
And some weights.

Happy bday RM!
21km today with a pickup with middle-ish 12kms @ 4:27 avg pace followed by poor planning and having the next 2kms practically vertical (200 foot climb!) Legs felt fine but boy were my arms tired. 4:41 overall avg.

I can so relate to this post. Slowly getting my passion back. Second track workout this evening....200 metre fast/200 metre recovery...for 30 minutes. Then a core workout. Happy :D For me either doing AIS or the cooler weather (or both) has loosened me up. The hardest things to do is go out there f...

Re: Quebec City Running Routes?
I ran everything in the Quebec City area a few years back to escape a dysfunctional family wedding. The plains of Abraham is great. From the Chateau, out the St. Louis Gate, and go explore in the park. Its a good distance west to where the park ends. And the good thing is that its reasonably contai...

Quebec City Running Routes?
I'm going with my wife in Aug. First time for both of us and we're staying in the Chateau Frontenac.
It looks like there's a park (parc) near by, but does anyone have real world experience running there? Are there some good areas to run? or is just loop around the park?

Re: Boston Marathon Fixed?
It's not about whether its a conspiracy its about whether non-runners care. And yes while many in Boston do care about their marathon, there are many still I think who do not. These are 3 examples of things that matter to us and we thought that it'd be a big deal, so regardless of whether Boston was...

Re: Boston Marathon Fixed?
Remember when Ryan Paul said he ran a 2:5X but it was really a 4:0X and we thought the world would end over such a egregious mistake? Remember when the NYC marathon was cancelled by Sandy (and there was no way such a huge event could be cancelled, esp with everything else that still went on)? Rememb...

Re: 2014 Boston Marathon Week
I wish the qualification period was longer... ugh. My employer has finally given me the green light for Boston (we'd work something out) but my last Boston won't count for 2015, only NYC would, so my slight "blow up" to a 3:09 wouldn't count. If I raced again in the fall, It'd be mid-Oct, ...

Hey Peeps, Coming out the woodwork a bit finally to run the Yonge st 10k. Should be about 39-42 but closer to 42. Works basically eaten me alive but I've started to run at lunch over the past couple weeks, which helps to add balance and gives me an out. I've run a few 43min 10k's on the TM this week...
