"I am wot I am" (Popeye) If someone asks me if I'm a runner or what I do to keep in shape, I tell them I like to run distance. If someone asks me if I'm a marathoner, I tell them I've run the marathon but I'm not a "marathoner". If I couldn't run I would do something else like hiking or biking etc. ...

Over a 20 year period, I averaged 15-20 miles a week at 3 days/week. No significant injuries and lots of energy left for other stuff and I think I maintained the base, if not the peak of fitness. This does not mean doing 10/1's or slouching through 10 min miles, you need to mix it up with different ...

From Dr. Sheehan: "(I was) in a world of my own where my running became me. I have on occasions in practice been lost in thought, oblivious of my surroundings but oblivious, too, of the running, so that I could not recall how I got to where I was. But this was entirely different. I was entirely occu...

Thanks for the detailed breakdown of stride mechanics. I probably violate some of these "rules" at different points in a run, except for when I'm lucky enough to be faced with a long level stretch of road where I can make small adjustments to stride and try to maximize efficiency. The rest of the ti...

That's a well put together video... I like his comment about nobody being around - Toronto does look deserted when it's early and cold out, especially on the lakeshore where you usually see the crowds in the summer. He looked a little light in head gear dept. No face protection or hood. I'm sure Wes...

Re: Picking your ideal race distance - and then being ok wit
Do you want to listen to your head (which seems to be dictated by what others think) or do you want to listen to your heart (which seems to be dictated by what you think)? This is up to you to answer, not anyone else. I'm just saying your answer might be located in your question. There is always a ...

I just started taking Omega-3 caps but the bottle just says 'take one or more' and doesn't specify an amount. Anyone know what the suggested daily intake would be? I have tried google but didn't have much success - perhaps my google skills are lacking. I take 3 Fish Oil Caps daily, 3 (1500 iu) Gluc...

What supplements do you take?
Has it made a difference?
I just took multivitamins until I got joint pain and started Omega 3-6-9 and glucosomine. It worked.
Now adding vitamin D during the winter.
