Re: White Rabbit Thursday
3.5k of fartlek, I guess - running along with DS who's still learning to ride his bike without training wheels, so the pace varied from walk to flat-out sprint. Hoping to get the chance to fit in another 5k or so later today.

Re: August 2013 Training Goals
My August schedule says 217km; anything in the 200+ range would be by far my biggest mileage month ever, so I'll say my August goal is any 3-digit number beginning with a 2.

Re: July 2013 Training goals
Between birthdays (the little guy's and mine) at the beginning of the month and the heatwave in the middle, July was a bit of a bust, mileage-wise. 91.5km in total - less than half of what I'd planned.

Re: What's Up Wednesday?
Going to bed last night, I felt so tired and beat-up that I didn't set my alarm, figuring I'd skip my run this morning. However, I felt much better on waking up, so managed to squeeze in 4.5 k of modest hills before DH had to leave for work.

Me too. But this week has a mountain ahead... the first time marathon training takes me into 'longest run ever' territory coming up on the weekend with a 23k long run.

at the 10k mark and was way ahead of my goal at 1:05. That's where it all fell apart
I think this might be part of it... maybe went out too fast? The unexpectedly warm weather probably played a part too. Either way, congrats on finishing!

Re: Top 10 running fashion faux pas
I am occasionally guilty of the loose-hair thing (see avatar), and I do wear a little makeup for races (photos). If I go for a run at lunch or after work, I'll be in full makeup, but hey, it beats skipping a run. I wear a water belt for long runs, too... it's not a fashion show.

Re: The runners wave?
I try to at least make eye contact/smile. Very early in the morning, when there are fewer people about, or if the weather's really crummy, I'm more likely to go for the actual wave. In my experience, the least likely to reciprocate are women late 20s-early 40s who look very thin and put-together (an...

It was already a humidex of 35 when I got up at 4:50 this morning. Poked my head out the door and could hardly breathe with the humidity... scrapped the run plan for today and will do a strength workout after work instead. This is the kind of weather that makes me wish we had space for a treadmill...

Hot Sunday
Nobody yet? I was planning on 6k today but couldn't face it when I stepped out the door - it was so muggy and still. Going to do an indoor strength workout instead.

Muggy Monday
After a few days off, went out at 6am for what turned into only 6k, rather than the 8 I was aiming for. I felt like I was running through soup! There was a lot more walking involved than usual, but at least I got it done.

It doesn't like my waist measurement at all. I got 37, but seeing as I'll turn 43 in less than two weeks, I'll take it.

Re: Wonderful Wednesday!
Got out the door around 5:45am for 10k before it got too hot/sunny. Turned into a tempo run for about the 4k-8k section... including 2k at just about 10k race pace, which I was pleasantly surprised to manage given the temps.

How many days per week are you running right now? I'm finding that adding an extra day is keeping my pace moderate, since I'm rarely running on fresh legs.

Re: Muggy muggy Sunday
Stayed up too late to get up as early as I should have, so it was a muggy 10k by the time I got moving after 7am. Fortunately I hit some heavy fog in the Beaches the kept me cool till about the 7k mark. I was running on the boardwalk and I couldn't see the water - now that's foggy!
