Couldn't face the trainer this morning, so 10K easy on the treadmill while watching Olympic highlights.
I know I'm going to go through withdrawal when the Olympics are over.

Good for you getting out for a run Ken, and making the best of the situation.
With great sadness I report that Southampton lost to Portsmouth today.
Oh well, life goes on.
Rest day, and errands ahead.

Re: Improvement in 5 km Time - Expectations
I was wondering if you are running your tempos and speedwork outside or on a treadmill? If on a TM you may want to run a time trial on the TM you are using to get a handle on your TM paces. I know that I am about 10s/km faster on the TM than I am outside. Outdoor PB 20:58, TM PB 20:09. If you're out...

Re: Chilly Saturday
Okay, so here's the scoop. Tomorrow I turn 47. Today, I ran my 1st 32k run! 2:56:40 (5:32 avg pace). And if that wasn't hard enough, let's just do it on one of the coldest days of the year. David + I left around 8:45 am when the temp was -24 / -32 wc. When we finished, it was still only -18/-24. BU...

Rest day here. After work I have to take Bailey to the vet for her annual check-up and vaccinations. She doesn't even notice when they give her a needle. I just read on TriRudy that Bushtukah will be opening a store in Kanata in early 2011 focused on Bike, Run, Tri. Start saving your...

I'm Gumby, damn it! (Art Clokey passed away last Friday.)
I can't see pictures at work , but I assume that makes me Pokey.
Planned tempo on the TM when I get home, although I feel tired just thinking about it.

Well it's 8:55 am and I'm at work, but I've already been to Chapters (opened at 7:00 am), Future Shop and PetSmart (opened at 8:00am).
I know how to Man shop!
Hoping to squeeze in a run later.
Wishing all Maniacs a Merry Christmas.

They have the Elixir 5's at Bushtukah?!?!?!?!?!?!? Cool - Merry Christmas to you....

Re: Mizuno Elixer 5's
I'm wearing a pair of Elixir 5's I picked up from Bushtukah at lunch; $110 using the coupon. I'm moving from Inspire 4's to these, so I can't really comment on any change in fit, but they certainly don't feel bulky; they feel really light! They will be my treadmill shoe for this winter. I can't wait...

Re: Is less more?
I followed a Higdon intermediate plan last winter and spring and ended up not making it to the starting line at the NCM. The combination of five days a week of running with a marathon paced run on Saturday followed by an LSD on Sunday was killer and, by not listening to my body, I ended up with a ti...

My usual Saturday routine: Watch an English soccer game while I do 15 km on the bike trainer followed by 5 km on the treadmill.
Works for me.
Now to see what rBr has lined up for the rest of the day.

How to Prevent (tibial) Stress Fractures
From the NY Times an interesting article on tibial stress fracture prevention. I had a freak accident with a beer this morning. I was removing a thawed frozen orange juice can from the fridge and its plastic pull tab hooked onto the ridges of a beer bottle cap.
