Re: RIP Gord Dickson
I’m very sorry to hear this news. Gord Dickson was one of the few running “celebrities” I’ve met and the only one I’ve actually run with, once. It was back in the 1981. I was in the fifth mile of a ten mile training run in the hills on Northshore Blvd. east of LaSalle Park when I was joined on the r...

Re: Rita Jeptoo's B-sample tests positive for EPO
So what does all this mean? Should we return to the old days where being called a "professional" meant that you were somehow tainted by money as opposed to the "amateurs" who compete for the love of the sport? Maybe "professionals" should be allowed to do what they want...

Re: Sunglasses on top of prescription glasses?
When I got my last pair of glasses I purchased them with polarized clip-ons that match my lenses exactly. They were sold as a set. I have no problem with the sunglasses not covering my lenses. They attach to my frames magnetically so there is no issue with looseness or rattling. I hope this helps.

Re: Winter bike storage
The tires will gradually lose pressure over the winter any way so I don't think it's a problem to leave them inflated. I store my bikes in my heated basement as I don't feel it is good to leave them in the freezing cold garage. I believe the cold might effect the tension of the spokes and cables. It...

Re: Garmin 920xt...
There's been no problems for me using the chipset in the F2. As I said above, I liked my FR620 for a lot of reasons even though the GPS was a bit flakey now and then. I was prepared to live with the watch's shortcomings but when it crashed on me two times in a row in spite of my doing all the lates...

Re: Garmin 920xt...
I would hold off buying the 920XT for a while in order to see what the user feedback is like. From my reading, the 910XT is a good watch and uses the SirfStar IV GPS chipset. There have been a lot of concerns expressed on the web about Garmin's newer watches, namely the FR220, FR620 etc., because th...

Thanks for the feedback guys.
We ended up broiling a sirloin in the oven and using the left overs for chili the next day. Yum!

Re: Replacement for Garmin 610
http://fellrnr.com/wiki/Best_Running_Watch I was surprised to read that he found differences in GPS accuracy between the 610 and the 620. I would have thought the basic GPS functionality between those two watches is the same. Wonder if he had a bad example, and if so how much variability is there b...

Easy Beef Recipe Wanted
Due to a B12 deficiency, I have been encouraged to eat more red meat. Hard to believe isn't it?
I don't have a barbecue or a way of grilling meat, so I'm looking for suggestions on how to prepare simple beef dishes by roasting or stewing, probably not frying beyond browning.
Any suggestions?

10K run this morning. I got out too late however. Humidex was 29 during my run. Sheesh. Never thought I'd miss winter running.

Re: Steamy Saturday . . .
I don't usually run in the mornings (I'm not a morning person) but with the weather getting hotter, there's not much choice. 12K done this AM. Very pleasant temperature.
Wow, there sure are a lot of people awake and doing things early on a Saturday morning!

Re: Newer garmins
Notwithstanding all the positives I said about my Garmin 620, I just returned it! Thank goodness for MEC. I had adjusted to using lap pace instead of current pace. I understand the issues around current or instant pace. I'd gotten used to the duller display. I loved the vibrate alert. I loved being ...

Having said that ... this year definitely have been a lot of crashes so far .. a lot more rain in the first half, as compared to previous years, no ??? 21 riders out as of today. Apparently in 2012, 32 riders were out at this point. Evidently this is the best year for the French in some 26 years wi...
