No worries HCcD. I will be attending and documenting every minute of this mile  and then driving the boy to the hotel where I suspect he will purge himself some more of the adult beverage. Ironboy - are you serving up bacon, eggs and buttery toast aftewards to the participants? The body's react...

Re: Fat Ass Trail Run Anyone?
I'm preparing for a DLF in the 17.5K distance.
My running legs are sort of coming back. The nimbleness needed for trails - not so much. But that is ok. I'm just out for a good time and some new scenery.

Gotta love Ethan for running, despite relapsing, and as a guide.
Messier said he wants to finish in 4:30. Apollo is looking for a personal goal of 3:30.
Will be PVRing the race Sunday on NBC.

BTW, Apollo Ono wants to finish sub-4. If he does, Subway will donate some obscene amount of money to Special Olympics.
He's run 700 miles in training.

Yes, not an option. They euthanized close to 100 animals earlier this year for a ringworm outbreak. I can't support an organization like that. Few animals are even being dropped off their now from what I understand.

Charity Christmas Cards
I know it's way early, but gotta ask.
Do you know of any good animal-based charities that sell Christmas cards? I've only found the Farley Foundation.
Cheers!

I'm doing 17.5. I've just returned to running after 10 weeks off thanks to a bike crash, so I'm just doing this for fun.
We registered for this race two years ago, but couldn't go because of injuries (recurring theme). But the jacket was nice.
Too bad I missed out on the hoodie. Oh well.

Re: Ironman 5150 in Toronto?
I do like the Alcatraz thought. However, I did Gravenhurst this year and they do like that and it sucked. One marker at 500m where you turn inland and nothing else to site for 1K except a Boston Pizza sign and the buoy on land. And there's a lot of water on either side of you so going off course - t...

Re: Ironman 5150 in Toronto?
I just don't understand why they have to close down two major highways for a 40K ride and 10K run? When they first mentioned this and tossed around "Ironman" and the road closures were for 10 hours, I really thought a half or full was coming here. But Olympic is fine and I'll likely do it.

Ryan Sutter raced it last year too. We saw him and his wife - Trista? in the registration line. No celebrity perks for them - they waited behind us. Who's to say how many freebies that got in the expo though. I didn't know he was an Ironman. Nifty. If I recall, his NYC finish time was quick. No Bobb...

Hey Kim, thanks for the update! Dental check-ups can be odd that way. I have a heart murmur and used to have to take drugs before they'd open my mouth. No fancy goggles here - just TYR ones. I was suspecting they might be done. 4x/week must create some wear and tear, including on me  Which is fine, I was kind of bored with them anyway. Not to be a poop, however, the victims likely won't see a penny of the money, providing they win, which is really a slam-dunk. In most civil litigations like this, much more reasonable amounts are negotiated outside of court and are really piddly sums. Even then, no guarantee you'll get the money un...
