Re: Cross-border shoe shopping

the 18% reduction would be based on landed cost, not retail prices. so if a shoe's cost is only $25 then you would see a reduction of $4.50. All the other markups and costs would not be impacted by the lowering of and/or elimination of tariffs. i think people see 18% reduction and automatically ass...

Re: Cross-border shoe shopping

Similar here. Not that I am famiiar with Holabird - and I even switched to Holabird-friendly brands, Mizuno road and Salomon trail, when I got orthotics and went neutral - Canadian Retail prices are absolutely shocking for shoes. I will stop by Running Free this weekend when they have teir semi-annu...

Re: Cross-border shoe shopping

18% of cost. It was what many retailers pointed to previously as the reason why shoes with a $99.99 USD MSRP had a $154.99 CAD retail price in Canada. It never did account for the full difference. The Canadian dollar is currently above 97 cents USD and is above 98.5 average YTD, it really hasn't fal...

Re: Toronto Marathon vs. Toronto Waterfront Marathon

For more useless information you didn't ask for, here is how I'd rank the Ontario Marathon Events I've done, from best to worst. I'll be doing the EndurRun and Toronto Waterfront Marathons for the first time this year and will add them. The former, the EndurRun, I am expecting to rank very high. 1 D...

Re: Toronto Marathon vs. Toronto Waterfront Marathon

I started taking note of the Ontario Marathons shortly after I started running in 2008. It seemed at that time that I may run most at some point. But with the advent of grants for anyone who asks, new events are popping up more quickly than I can run the existing races and we may be in the mid-20s ...

[quote="La"]Worst. TV Coverage. EVER!!/quote] NBC Sports Network's coverage reminds me of Olympic coverage. It is far better to record the six hours of live coverage during the day. The Prime Time wrap-up is crap. In addition to condensed coverage, there is a lot more junk.features inserted.

Re: 2 cyclists killed crossing Canada

Be careful folks! There were also two fatalities on-course at a triathlon my wife competed in last weekend in Geneva, New York. Two things you think might cause only minor to major injuries - a rider rear-ending a disabled vehicle and a rider hitting a water bottle on the road - both caused fatal in...

Re: PB Story

Next year, I don't think I could beat that one twin (April), but I could definitely hold my own against Melanie. They are quick, I've never beaten them at anything. Mel is closer to April in wheels normally but has just started running again after a broken foot. It seemed like a pretty strong field...

Re: Midsummer Night's Run moves to Toronto Islands

I'm going to the EndurRun. I don't know what I was thinking. I have had minor frustrations every time out to MSNR. I went to EndurRun last year. It was first rate. And cheap. And no issues. Why was I back to the default August MSNR selection? Do I like punishment? Perhaps. But I have smartened up fo...

Thanks DB - very interesting race. Great to know you can pick off a single event or two - as the full week is a bit intimidating. Thanks. Act quickly though - the Guest spots are at a value rate in an attempt to get new folks out. So book now. I think I am going to do the 3-day mini-torturefest, ju...

Re: Looking for Canadian runners who look to shed pounds

I'll counter that data point with mine. I am down 22 lbs in the last 3 months. I usually eat dinner at around 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm. I don't believe in timing of meals having an effect on weightloss. My experience just hasn't shown it for me. Same here. I don't doubt that hydration, timing of meals an...

For me its the fact that this is not the race I registered for....If I wanted to run on the island I would have registered for the Half Marathon there in September (I am actually doing the 5k distance of that September race)...I registered for a race along the Toronto Beaches waterfront not this. A...

it came via e-mail to registrants. I think they were waiting to put a refund stance together. They cannot post that kind of 30K map and not expect significant negative feedback.

That 30K route is insane. It is the same 5K of roads run over and over again. It appears to have a few hairpin turns to call it a 15K loop.

I sent my request in already.

Thanks to all who applied pressure. I already had a request in for a refund that was unanswered but will now follow their formatting requests and see if they acknowledge it.
