Re: Alternatives to Asics Kayano?

If I had thought ahead, I could have stocked up, but at this point I can't find my size anywhere. If I find a shoe I love again, I will stock up for sure!

Alternatives to Asics Kayano?

Hello, I have a shoe dilemma and would really appreciate any suggestions! I have run in Asics Kayano shoes for years. However, my current shoes are Kayano 20s (womens size 7). I tried some Kayano 22s, and the fit does not work for me at all - the upper feels extremely tight on my feet. I tried Brook...

Re: Niagara Falls Women's Half

We'll be making a weekend of it as well. So excited! Any advice about activities in the area that a one year old would enjoy? I was thinking maybe Marineland, and seeing the falls of course. Latest weather.com forecast shows a high of 19 - I definitely won't complain about that given the recent weat...

I am signed up! Hope I'll be ready for it - the last couple of months have been one setback after another. Anyone else planning to run this?

Re: Lance slogging in and getting edged into 7th at Texas 70

What I found interesting is a couple of comments indicating that it's "bush league" to sprint past a competitor in the last 100m. Has anyone heard this before? that never would have crossed my mind - I don't do triathlons but certainly in my running races I try to pick off whoever I can ri...

Re: Niagara Falls Womens' Half Marathon: June 3 2012

That is good to know - I was considering that race but was wondering how it would be as I read that the course is not closed to the public. Hey there -- I just checked with the race director, and he says the course is definitely closed from 7am-12pm. Sorry for the confusion! I meant to respond to t...

I'm also in. Did the Toronto Women's half its first year. Never going back - the course was ridiculous. This one sounds way better and more scenic. We're combining this with a trip over the border for some Mighty Taco :D That is good to know - I was considering that race but was wondering how it wo...

Thanks IronColl and FishPants - it is nice to hear from moms who have a balanced perspective. But Justin is definitely not a slacker if he is climbing out of his crib - that shows ambition

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

First post for me in ages - unfortunately running has been kind of sporadic lately. I was on a roll until we got hit with a virus that took turns working its way through DH, me and J. Now I am working on getting back into a proper training plan. Sleeping through the night - for those that worked on ...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Do the race! :) I'm always surprised by how much the race environment can do for my motivation and attitude after the race is over - if you are excited to race then I think it's worth the fee. That reminds me, need to get a race of my own in the calendar

OK, next time I am tempted to skip a run, I will channel Pts running at 9pm after putting an infant and toddler to bed, and FishPants doing squats while carrying a toddler! Now that's dedication :D

Thanks for the tips everyone - it looks like long sleeves and/or blanket are the way to go (no poncho for me ! ) My guy seems to hate his hat as well but hopefully he will get used to it! Running update - I am up to 5.5K now, although today I had to take an extended walk break at 4K due to sto...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I have a question for those of you who take your babies for walks in wraps or front carriers. Do you do anything special to protect them from the sun? When J is in the stroller I am pretty careful about using the shade to keep direct sunlight off of him. When I am wearing him I make sure he is weari...

I also use the Shuffle and clip it to my shorts. If your ipod is to heavy to use an armband, I can't imagine wanting to carry it around in my bra! Does anyone else have problems with burning their skin when clipping the shuffle or nano to their shorts in hot weather? I've had to start tucking in my ...

The Toronto Women's 10k was my comeback race last year :D It was good! I don't remember anything that stood out in particular. Oh, I guess there were the firemen at the water stations  Organization was good, the course was not super easy, but not difficult either. They didn't give out medals l...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Good luck weekend racers! I reached 5K in my run today - it felt good! I think I will try to stretch my regular run to 40 minutes and then work on building a weekly 'long run' up to 10K. Then, I will start to work on getting the speed back. Has anyone run any of the Toronto Womens races, and if so, ...

Yay scrummy!! Do you have a ta-ta tamer? I found mine worked even when I was at my fullest, and I only needed the one bra. That's what I was wearing! And I had just fed/pumped, so who knows. I did pick up a Moving Comfort "Juno" at the expo today that feels like it will be really good! I ...

Congratulations to FishPants and Scrumhalfgirl on the new arrivals!! My news - I ran today! I did a small treadmill run a couple of days ago (8x1:1 intervals) and this morning did my first run outside - 4 3:1 intervals and one four minute interval. It feels a bit weird starting at the beginning agai...

Also, I started the little guy on BioGaia drops this week, and he has had major spit up issues since so I think I am going to have to stop. I'm not sure if they were just a shock to his sytem (and mayb...

Thanks for tip Irongirl! I have some other drops, but they are meant to be used only in the middle of a gas 'crisis', and I'm not sure whether they are working. I definitely prefer the idea of a preventative approach - hopefully they work for us!

Semi off topic question: does anyone have advice that helps with gassy newborns? Our little guy has been having a tough time lately, and nothing seems to work. I don't think it is related to anything I'm eating.

Hi everyone, just wanted to announce that I am well on my way to becoming a hot running mom :D . No running yet, but my beautiful little guy was born a month ago today! He is keeping me busy, which explains why it took me a month to post this... I haven't decided yet when I'll start running. I am re...
