Re: Cycling rocks

We have some really sucky elite runners in Vancouver too. Dylan Wykes, Rob Watson, Ellie Greeenwood- how dare they involve themselves in the local running community with coaching and support.

Re: Long term swollen ankle

was there an injury involved, or just swelling post-marathon? Swelling that lasts a month is sign of an injury. It seems that the injury was never properly diagnosed. I'm sorry you've spent so much time on therapy without results- I agree with eme- time to find a better therapist. Your current phys...

The fact that these people happened to finish with what would be BQ results for the original bib buyer doesn't prove or even suggest that they were bib muling. If 500 people run a race with someone else's bib, some small number of them are going to coincidentally run a "BQ"... and yes som...

Re: Running Mules..

The marathoninvestigation internet sleuth is no friend of the running community. This is one of multiple entries where he rats out people for running with someone else's bib (at races that prohibit race transfers). It's gross. If he cared about runners (their health and well-being, or their best in...

Re: Running Mules..

1) Bib mules have been an issue for a while-- this is not a new thing. They are just easier to catch now. 2) It is super-annoying but NOT a widespread problem. Derek Murphy on the Marathon Investigation site estimates about 1% of "qualifiers." 3) Qualifying for Boston is still a big deal, ...

Re: London Marathon Sunday 23rd April 4:30am kick off

Anytime someone posts in a forum, it's assumed that the person wrote it unless the words are quoted (or in quotes). Like I said- it's just bad form not to quote and it's useful to actually post the link where you got the info. If I hadn't already seen a large sampling of your writing elsewhere on th...

Re: London Marathon Sunday 23rd April 4:30am kick off

It's bad form anywhere to copy something and make it seem like you wrote it. It's also reasonable to expect that someone might want to link to where you got the words in order to read more. Whoa Nelly! Yes Prof..didn't realize this is an academic site, and that I was submitting a thesis/dissertation...

Great times in London.

Looks like Paula's non-women only record might go down soon, too.

Krista Duchene represented Canada- unfortunately she slowed down a lot in the second half of the race and was far off her best.

Re: Cool or Not Cool?

It's not about the monetary value of the medal. I feel silly even saying that- it seems so obvious. It's about the intent and the fraud. He didn't make a mistake, he didn't ask for permission to take the medal. He took it intentionally. I stand by my initial comment of "Is this even a question?...

public shaming out of hand, definitely. poor guy probably didn't even realize he was doing anything wrong until the (running) internet got all up in arms... I don't buy it. "The poor guy" had to know he wasn't entitled to take another medal. Volunteers give them to each finisher- they are...

I doubt that guy is deeply into running culture or he would have known that giving his wife a medal would draw more scorn than praise. That's why he needs to be told. Told what though? That he ought to enjoy a recreational activity exactly the same as I do? If the star of my favourite team signs wi...

Re: Cool or Not Cool?

The extra medal cost the BAA a buck or two, the guy (possibly a one-time-only marathoner) scores points with his wife who is clearly hotter than him. Nobody got hurt. Well, he just should have given her his own medal then. Or buy the special "companion" medal that the BAA sells specifical...
