Congrats Denise and Jesse! Omg, I'm so out of the loop!
I delivered a baby girl on November 24th, Alina, so my mind is totally gone right now.

Re: Bike stolen at the "The Canadian" in Ottawa
As someone mentioned in another non-RM venue, the Somersault races are not sanctioned and thus they can make their own rules regarding security policies etc. The other tris that I've done (Subaru series, Mdot) have been sanctioned by Triathlon Canada or USAT so you pay the extra day fee for well-est...

Yeah, that's pretty wild. I'm not sure how she could not know either! Good for her for having such an easy pregnancy.

I do this for free here, and it's super popular... maybe I should start charging. :P Wish I had seen this offer before I signed up. :D For $20 I figured I couldn't go wrong if I learned a thing or two though. Ha ha, factor in the $600 air ticket to Vancouver and Dave & Lise's clinic ends up bei...

Crushfest! Congrats on a solid 4:05. You had a phenomenal training cycle and race. I'm super proud of you! C'mon, you're already a super hero so why not throw in some itty bitty classes into the mix this fall in preparation for Hamilton? Of all the people I know, you're probably the only person who ...

Congrats on your tri! The butt scoot to change lanes in the shallow end sounds like it would have been tricky! Best of luck training up for your Oly later this summer. I think that you'll really enjoy the distance. It's my favourite by far.

Re: Early Bird 2013: Iron Will no match for injured foot
I totally understand. I have an awesome physio and he has helped me figure out a lot of training-related injuries over the years (shoulder, adductor etc). However, he's definitely an exception and not the norm ....and yes, it does cost $$$ although I'm lucky and have supplemental coverage. Happy rec...

Sorry to hear about the foot. I wondered if it had acted up when I saw your DNF. :( That's a solid swim and bike so be proud of those accomplishments! I don't want to sound like your mom but have you had treatment on it yet by a reputable physio? Since it's been on and off for months, you might want...

Re: Running off the bike
I've always done bricks or transition runs in the 20-30 min range off the bike from sprints up to HIM. As for frequency, I only do bricks once a week when juggling a full tri training program. There isn't usually time to squeeze in more. Some people do swim/bike bricks too but I haven't ever done th...

I've never used the feature since I'm pretty good at pacing myself but you can set your Garmin on Training mode to run a fixed pace throughout. It will beep at you if you're going too fast. All you have to do is listen to it!
Good luck with your race!

Re: Advice needed for 1/2 training for ORW
I'm surprised that no one has piped in. That seems like a big jump to me going from 12k to 18k if you're a newer runner. Around 15k this weekend seems much more reasonable with 18k the weekend after. If you jump from 15k to 20k, it might be a bit much depending on how your body tolerates the distanc...

Thanks guys for the suggestions, actually went with Brooks Glycerin 10's. Ran 10k in them yesterday with no issues Good luck with them! They didn't work for me since they gave me black toenails after 15k's but I hope they work for you. I stocked up on a few pair before I found out the problem so no...

Re: Vancouver: IMS practitioners
All hail IMS! I've used in on various body parts over the years and it rocks. Awhile ago, my physio in Ottawa gave me a referral for a colleague in North Van who does IMS but I can't find it using the advanced search; however here's the certifying body to which he belongs so there will be some leads...
