Re: Future of RM
I just had an idea... if we want to draw newcomers into forum discussions, twitter might be a good way to do that... If you have a business page on Instagram (free), you can share directly to your business FB and Twitter pages. Not sure if it works with a group FB page, but it makes for easy sharin...

Re: Long term swollen ankle
Hi! Welcome to RM. Fellow Winnipegger here. Can't say that I have had your issue but I know that it is hard to find really good, knowledgeable sports medicine people in Winnipeg. Are you in pain from the swelling or is it just "there"? If there is no pain, maybe try compression socks to he...

Re: Time limit for Try-A-Tri Swim?
I find that Try a Tris do not have a cut off, as they are meant to encourage first time triathletes.
I would focus on being comfortable in the water and not on an arbitrary swim time.

Honestly, I think this is a stupid way to make their point. I have worked my entire career in a male dominated environment (military) and have face challenges as a woman (male boss harassing me on a daily basis). I believe that everyone should have the same opportunities (and compensation for the sa...

Re: Learn to Run
Bathrooms - a must have. They also provide a place for people to change afterwards, as some people don't like to have coffee in their running gear. The social aspect after the run, I finds helps bring that sense of community to the group. When I taught LTR, I tried to have "pacers" at the ...

Yup, running socially with friends helped me get my mojo back when I hit a slump in the fall.
Hopefully the spring weather will help you enjoy yourself more. Maybe even hit the trails for a walk and see if that inspires you?

Re: Broken car Thursday
I attempted to take the dog for a run, thought maybe 5km or 8km, on a gorgeous spring day.... but for whatever reason the dog just did NOT want to run today.... just tired? Old? Not feeling well? Not sure.... it's not like him. :/ he kept wanting to stop. So we walked the rest and ended up with onl...

I breathe mostly on my right side. I can breathe on my left but my rotation is not the same/is more difficult.
It is better for sighting in triathlon to be able to breathe on both sides.

Re: Swimming...
The pull buoy is great for getting the body rotation down. To practice breathing, I used a kick board and just kicked with my face in the water and breathing side to side (arms straight out with the board). It helps you simplify things and concentrate on your breathing (and helps conserve some ener...

I know it's been almost 5 years ultraslacker , but how are you now? Have you done a try-a-tri or anything? I didn't stick with it. And now that I've got a shiny new epilepsy diagnosis, I don't see swimming in my future. Damn. I'm so sorry. I bought a "pull buoy" and started using it last ...

Re: Julie Miller now running ultras
Personally, I have very little tolerance for cheating/doping in sport. There are far too many people who bust their @sses through hard work to achieve their goals to see cheaters (of any kind) win. I think that our many sports governing bodies are fragmented (i.e. Tri Canada ban doesn't have any wei...
