Re: 6 Month Monday
Had a fast (for me) 7.5 km this morning- 38:30. Was a nice run under a very bright moon. Feel great right now, which is odd for a Monday morning.

Re: Somnolent Sunday ;)
Great cardio workout tonight- put on some old school soul music (Earth Wind & Fire, Aretha Franklin etc) and danced around the living room for about 45 mins with the kids. Worked up a good sweat. Plan on hitting the road bright and early tomorrow (more like dark & early).

Re: Friday is... Frigid? And Finally here!!
Way too cold here today. Had to decide between getting up at 5:30 and face the -25 windchill, or stay in bed for another hour snuggled up with my warm, cuddly wife. Turned out to be a pretty easy decision to make.

6km this morning. Started out pretty good, shins were quite sore by the end.
Urged on by the happy sounds of the Talking Heads.

Re: Happy Birthday Wednesday
7.5km for me this morning. I thought it was going to be a slow one, so I put Roger Waters on the ipod (nice chill music for a slow run). Apparently Pink Floyd tunes were what I needed, as I ended up keeping a pretty good pace (despite the odd outburst of air drumming)- averaged 5:20/km.

Re: Happy Australia Day Tuesday
Plan was for 7.5km this morning, but at 3am 1 kid woke up with a bad dream, then a few minutes later another one with an ear ache, and on it continued for the next couple of hours. Things finally settled down at around 5:15, but by then I changed my alarm and tried to get 1 more hour of uninterupted...

It's meteorological misery here today- not very cold (+8) but torrential rain. My masochism only goes so far. Tomorrow looks much more tolerable.

Nice 12km run this morning- about 8 km on the road, 4 km on icy trails through the forest. So nice to run in daylight as opposed to the normal pre-dawn runs.

Re: Finally Friday
Went to bed with somewhat wishy washy plans to get up at 5:25 for a run.
Past experience has taught me that wishy washy plans the night before rarely translate into action in the morning. I lived up to that this morning.
Oh well. Tomorrow's a new day......

I can't sit for hours...I get all antsy :shifty: I get antsy, too. I try to use a foot roller to redirect some of that energy when I'm seated for extended periods of time... to little avail, I'm afraid. I've been trying to convince our department to get a bunch of exercise ball chairs. :D http://ww...

I gained some sympathy weight. Does that count? (Do I hear the sound of the world's smallest ?)

Re: The Lure of the Marathon
I plan on running my first marathon this year, and basically I have 2 reasons. 1- Having the goal of running a marathon is what motivates me to drag my butt out of bed at 5:15am to run. I know myself, and I know that I need specific motivation. The last few years I did not have any specific running ...

Re: FRIDAY!!!!!! and not a moment too soon!
Fairly relaxed 7.5 km this morning, finished just before the rain started.
My wife was out last night, so I put the kids to bed early and was asleep by 9. Amazing how much easier it is to get up early when you do that.

Re: Winter Running Paces?
I definitely think it slows me down. I notice a difference it times over the same route if the road is slippery and snow covered vs dry. I make note of the road conditions in my log and there seems to be a correlation. I think the backwards slip on the steps affects efficiency, and probably adds to ...

Beautiful day here today. -10C, perfectly blue sky. Took the kids tobogganing at the local conservation area, and then while my wife took off to the grocery store with them, I put on my shoes and did couple km loop on the snow covered trails through the forest, the 2.5 km home on the road. Hard to b...

6km this morning, -10 and a bit breezy, with dry roads which was nice. I'll be glad when the sun starts coming up earlier so the morning runs are in daylight.
Did see 3 coyotes though, which was kind of neat.

Re: What do you track in your running log?
I was halfway thinking of making note of what music I listen to, to see if there is any correlation to times. For example- fast run on Sat while listening to Jamiroquai, slow run this morning while listening to Dave Matthews Band. Or maybe it was more related to sunny and the middle of the afternoon...
