Re: Pistorius charged with murder!

This was shocking! The newspaper did make the point that South Africa is a very violent place (thus supporting the whole burglar theory), but the fact police have been called there before certainly puts a more deliberate spin on it.

Re: Extreme Illuminate Jacket

I have the lulu one  . Nike made one 2 years ago that was heavy and didn't breathe... and it was $400! But I loved the idea. So I tried on both the RR one and the lulu one. For ony $50 more, no contest. The RR one is heavy and crinkly - 3 hours of listening to "swish, swish, swish" ...

Re: Extreme Illuminate Jacket

My wife once asked me about all my clothing with reflective strips "why do they just use reflective strips?" "Why don't they make the whole jacket out of reflector". It was a good question that i didn't have an answer to. So here you go. http://ca.shop.runningroom.com/collection...

Re: Recovery & Regeneration & Peak Performance

I went to this talk tonight and it was really great. He used Ryan Lochte, Michael Phelps, and Usain Bolt as examples because they had to do multiple races during the week of their events and be "on" (and sufficiently recovered) for each of those races. He said Phelps was the best athlete ...

Re: How cold is too cold?

I've run in -50 and although I wasn't cold while running, I always am a little terrified of getting injured, so I try to stay where there are lots of people/places. Those temps can be pretty isolating (not many people outside) so it's important to be safe.

But I am also paranoid.

Re: WTF Wednesday

I don't like bitching about the weather, I mean, I get it, it's Winnipeg and it's winter, but I really despise the few weeks we get every winter of below -35 with the windchill. I always start wondering why I stay here. Want to take puppy for a walk and burn some of his energy, then off to the Y. So...

Spin/Indoor Cycling help - how to train kids??

I have foolishly agreed to help out our "Kids of Steel" coach at our local YMCA and I have most of it ready, swimming and running drills, but I need some ideas on cycling drills, how do I keep a group of kids going? Any music thoughts? Games? Should I bring my dog clicker and throw treats ...

Have a speed question, since I've never tried to do fast...

I am not fast, but I am also quite sure I can be faster than I am...my question is, if I started the "Learn to Run 5k" program over again and just ran as fast as I could for the runs, wouldn't I get a faster 5k eventually?

Or is this deceptively too simple and a stupid idea?
