I could just say my goal is to have an awesome training cycle, and I'll do whatever event at the end just for fun. Seems legit to me.

Yes, that's my feeling too.

Re: Goals vs. Systems

Honestly, most of the time the 'system' is my goal. i.e. I systematize my running practices (for example) in order to attain a specific and maintainable set of fitness standards, but the goal is to live well with the systems I employ and embody. I guess you could say a goal is really just a way of m...

Re: Hi Guys. 5 year layoff may have worked.

Thanks for the warm welcome back! Well, I haven't been having any problems other than needing a calendar to time my runs. I tried some fast mile repeats last week and I guess they helped because today I blasted through a 5k in 25 minutes. Saturday I may try a 10 miler. That would be my longest run s...

Pierre, is that you buddy? Sorry I have been out of touch. Lianne said you were running. Last time I saw you was Niagara. Ouch for both of us there.

Hoping to be doing distance this summer.....

No training today as we are traveling to the city for a Valentines getaway. Just got a new pair of Kayanos in the mail however, so I'm dying to try them out.

Re: Training Logs

I used to use spreadsheets to work out various pace scenarios for races.

I'm seeing lots of SQL primary index errors getting thrown Hol. Do you need some assistance cleaning up the database? Dwayne used to do that stuff didn't he?

Training Logs

Starting back after a long layoff and I want to make sure all my motivational ducks are in a row. What are some of the recommended online (or off) training logs these days? I used to use map my run a bit.

Cheers!

Hi Guys. 5 year layoff may have worked.

Hi Maniacs! Ages since I was on here. Really bad ITB problems progressed from 07 to 08 then early 09 I severely tore my groin in the gym in a way they call a 'career ending injury' in soccer. I tried a few times but always had really bad pain after a couple of weeks, but last year I got up to 8 mile...

It better, because I'm not putting tread to pavement until it does.

On the bright side, my chronic runner's knee appears to be gone for good. And after only 14 months! 2009 may just work out.

For some reason that happened in my first three races this year. No idea what causes it but it is murder.

Congrats on a great and entertaining battle!!
