I guess I have to withdraw. I'm pretty bummed about this, but I'm not able to keep up and I am getting weaker every workout. It looks like your total volume is good - so don't be discouraged. Take a few days rest and then try a hard workout. You might surprise yourself! Plateauing is one of the thi...

4 miles, maybe half at tempo pace (7:40 /mile).

Obviously I'm nowhere near "shallonge" pace condition. Actually, I'm not really sure how I got thrown into that group, although I think the D-man might have had something to do with it. I'll be targeting a 3:50, which should at least be feasible.

My internal clock is a little out of whack, so up, ice and ultrasound the ankle at 5:30. Then out to Timmy's for a BELT for brekky, followed by an espresso and 50 pages of Jung. Then an early lunch and off to the gym for a 40 minute workout, plus a 4 mile recovery run. I also got my "100 pushups" wo...

Wow! That is an amazing time for that course Kinga. You are some kind of talented runner. Keep going and going and going.... :D

I guess the start-slow strategy really paid off.

Nice run Ron.

Um, was the "some other runner" the guy you asked to knock on the van the night before, 'cause if it was then that was me.

Congratulations, or I'm sorry... whatever make you feel better Michael It was a mad experiment (which sums up just about everything that I do). In the last 3 months I've averaged a grand total of 40 km / week (my 2008 average is around 20) and I think most people wouldn't even try a marathon on tha...

Haliburton

Yet another in the "impromptu" series. I thought it might be possible to do 100 miles on next to no training (60 km /week, 1 18 mile long run). It wasn't (for me). Ran a bit with Kinga. I think she finally pulled well away after the 30k station. She was running very, very well. Met Derek briefly aro...

Still sticking to the minimum rests...for now.

Week 4 looks basically identical to week 3 so a bit of a reprieve if you can get there!

I really, really enjoyed the vids Ron, it was just like reliving my hike. The spot where you met the people was my favourite waterfall.

Holly's absolutely right. In fact, for anything less than a really severe sprain doing as much activity as you can manage will definitely speed the healing process. I'm 2 weeks off 2 medium sprains (swelling and bruising) and I had virtually zero down time; last week was my highest mileage this year...

I'd rather see him in the limelight than many others (can you say Paris Hilton?). Looks like it has some good stories in it, as well as advice. Exactly what I was thinking. I mean, if somebody has to be in the media, it might as well be Dean. After all, he seems to thrive on it, so more power to him!
