Re: Re:

I've been pushing the envelope a tiny smidge everyday for years, NOT just run recklessly. I've studied my food in detail and rarely eat off the map. My whole program is about discipline....think about it. I'm gonna run recklessly smart.  But seriously... I am not just choosing an arbitr...

Re: July Mileage Challenge!

at the moment, it doesn't feel that great. I'm in the "almost at the peak of my training and feeling tired" stage. :P but I'm almost done. Ah... I sorta know the feeling from this past winter, but I want to experience that again and then some! But you're now a running machine, woman! Does...

Hey, no amount of running is wimpy. This thread is for mileage goals and if that is your goal for July, then AWESOME! Woot! Thanks for joining!

Re: July Mileage Challenge!

you can easily run longer if you want to. You have a way bigger base than most people who start running ultras. The question, as always, is what you're looking to get out of your running. I think you should *try* an ultra and then you can decide if you want to do more. ;) If you decide to go back t...

Lol, I plan on training, not getting injured!! Just North of 300k in July which would be my highest ever. 500k is just Maniacal!! (It's a real word, I checked) I know, I know. Injury... but I plan on running barefoot on grass. (not... but I would if I could) I just plan on running a lot, runn...

July Mileage Challenge!

I'm taking a bit of a new direction for July: a mileage challenge and it might mean forgoing races for the month, which is just fine (as this is not a speed challenge but a distance challenge). Anyone else up for it? If so, post your goal. I'd love to have some company in this!

Re: Islendingadagurinn

I've never really thought about that race. If I wasn't running a 50 miler the weekend before, I'd be up for it. The 50 miler sounds more intriguing. :) I think I'm running the Beaches Half on July 24th, so I'm not even sure about a race a week after that... but there's something about 10 miles on t...

Anyone signed up? I like the idea of an all-out 10-miler on a very flat stretch of highway. Seriously. I mean, it can't get any flatter than a run between Winnipeg Beach and Gimli. Then you get to go swimming. Can't beat that! :D

Re: Manitoba Marathon

Woo! Congrats steve_dmbfan! Sprinting once you're in the stadium is perfectly acceptable! It takes a few HM's to know what your "perfect" pace is. I still haven't figured mine out. If you're a HM convert, then there's always the Beaches, Ron Melnichuk, Treherne, and Niverville h...

I'm really glad you got a shirt in the end -- very well deserved!

And anyone who can run the "short" distance of 50K any day (forget in 30C temps) is just amazing in my books. Way to go! 8)

Re: Tired Tuesday!

It's currently 24 with a humidex of 30, and there's a severe thunderstorm watch in effect (potential large hail and damaging winds).

... and, in Winnipeg Maniac style, Habs and I are goin' for a run! Heading out in a few minutes - can't wait! :D

(I have my cell and we'll report back.)

Re: LisaBs First Marathon

BTW - my little guy ran the Super Run on Sunday too. He did awesome! 2.6 miles in 21:42 Of course he finished so fast that my hubby didn't get back to the stadium in time and spent an hour searching for him!! Yikes! But they found each other :) I ordered a medal for him today as he's really wanting...

As I commenbted yesterday, as you finished ... that, you looked way to happy and relaxed crossing the finish line ... for a person who had just finished a marathon ...  I thought the exact same thing when I saw you at Mile 22. You seemed much happier and energetic than the other runn...

Re: Dale's Manitoba Marathon Madness

This was one very well-deserved PB, Dale! Well done! Not only did you push hard out there yesterday but you also undoubtedly had to be creative with approaches to squeezing in training runs in over the past months. The great thing is that all that hard training will also carry forward to a fall mara...

Re: Manitoba Marathon

OK, I was joking about 100kmph winds - but it is insanely windy. Have you been outside yet? It isn't pleasant. I hear ya! It's nutso out there, and I'm heading out into it with Uri in tow. And since there was talk about race day weather - I am owed another beer. Andy, we are almost at a 6-pac...
