Re: Bradley Estates Community - Ottawa, Ont
I don't know what area that is!! ?? I had to look it up as well...according to the Valecraft website "located south of Blackburn Hamlet off Navan Road, backing onto the Mer Bleue Conservation Area." you know you live on the south west end of the city when I've heard of Blackburn Ha...

Re: Gatineau Park & Ottawa area trail runs - Add yours!
Bumping this thread up for reference since I'm hoping to get in some more trail running once the snow clears in prep for some of my races this year. Hopefully this'll even be the year that I get to the Gats for a few runs. I'll probably be leaning heavily on the Greenbelt trails between Bruce Pit a...

Re: weird knee pain...
RMT worked on it, suggested that I do some stretching. agreed that the weather is crappy and I shouldn't run on it until Tuesday. :) I did a lot of squats at CrossFit yesterday - my knees stay pretty far out, so, I'm not too worried about form during squats. I walked down some stairs pain free toda...

Re: Trail Races in the Ottawa/Gatineau Area ...
Yeah with a little one at home, it's hard to tack on an extra couple hours to your workout. This is my main reason for my lack of real trail running at the moment. I try to run on the greenbelt "trails"/paths as much as I can outside the winter. Luckily I can run or bike to work using mos...

Weights this morning and 5k run at lunch. I think I might have seen an RM buff but I'm not sure. Any female maniacs running by the Marshes Golf Course on Terry Fox Dr in Kanata at lunch today?

Re: Perth Kilt Run 2013
Looking through the site a bit more, I saw the section for "Commando kilts" and thought 'aren't all kilts commando kilts' but then I clicked on it and they meant commando differently. Maybe the section should be called camouflage kilts or mil-pat kilts.

Re: Perth Kilt Run 2013
If worse comes to worst, you can order a kilt for about $60 from sportkilt.com -- they are intended for running in, and they are comfortable. Just be sure to order at least a month ahead of time. Oh, you can get them for $35 from the race, but I just thought someone might have one that they're not ...

We will aim to be at the same spot as last year, just over the Alexandria Bridge. I will make sure you know where we are g...

I'll be there to cheer you all on :D And, we will probably set up a freezie station again .... just with more freezies since our 100 freezies were done in less than 10 minutes last year. Glad someone is doing the freezie station. My wife and kids did one for years at Pretoria Bridge and I used to b...

Re: Big, Fast, Strong
That’s a mistake distance runners make [not doing heavy lifting]. The best strength gains are made at 5 reps and under. You don’t put size on with those numbers. You put size on with 8 to 12 reps. Running is running – it’s still force application whether it’s sprinting or distance. Watch a miler at...

Mike Caldwell posted a detailed review on Trirudy after this year's race. Did your read it?
Yes, that was one of the positive reviews that I saw.

Jane I saw you after the race and recognized you from last year but you were talking with someone so I didn't want to interrupt.
I had a great time at the race again today. Hopefully I'll be back for 17.5 next year.

Re: Marathon Sunday
It's my first race since May so I'm excited, even though I'm not at all trained for it. Went about as well as I could have hoped for given the circumstances. Couldn't run any of the hills but managed to get through 7.5 in 42:13. Guess there's something to be said for cross training. Great to read a...
