Re: Time’s up, barefoot runners. Make way for fat-soled runn
I have a friend who SWEARS by the Hoka One One... He doesn't appreciate when I ask to borrow them so I can reach the top shelf in my cupboard. I am not sold. I am comfortable and pain/injury free in my Minimus and Lunars. I'll stick with those for as long as I can. Looks like I may be able to pick s...

Re: Wait, can it be... a decent news article on fitness?
Rippetoe's "Starting Strength" is a bit of a bible for myself and a lot of my peers... It's well worth the investment. I think I have an electronic copy floating around on my laptop as well.
PM me if interested, and if I can find it will share.

Rolling pin or a lacrosse ball would be best. It's REALLY hard to roll out your calves with a foam roller. Get K to roll them with your rolling pin...

Re: Sulphur Springs 2014
Finally got around to signing up last night, probably not a good idea on almost no training but I've got nothing else to do that weekend. I ran at Sulpher yesterday for the first time this year, wtf? There's so much wide flat gravel sections now, I think it's officially a road course with a few pud...

WOWZA! I think we need a party!
First week of July is my 10th as well! While the last couple of years have been very minimal running, I have run a bit those couple of years.

That stupid strike has delayed my new TT bike as well... February to March, to TBA...
It's causing a lot of problems besides delayed race shirts, that's for certain.

I have a client who gets them in the joints of her index finger and thumbs. She has to get them drained once in a while, and they don't seem to be an issue for her, aside from the fact she doesn't come to the gym for a week or so as she can't grip anything.

Hey Tim!
Haven't run much in 2 years, getting back at it after an injury (non running related)... new bike on order (Felt B14) so back in the pool and the saddle again. Also weightlifting more than I used to (which was next to nothing)
How are the Bull Dogs?

Re: Triathlon Bike Help!!!
Thanks for al your help. Just thought I would share how I followed up. I do not have a local bike shop that carries tri-bikes. For most of my servicing needs/ fits I go to a guy who has a shop in his barn. Everybody in my tri club swears by him or they go to the local hardware store. My husband has...

Re: Triathlon Bike Help!!!
Also, as an add in to Eme's comment about fit... We get a lot of ppl who buy a bike on-line, or from a buddy or a tri-swap... when they come in for a fit, there is a big enough percentage of people who actually end up with the completely wrong sized bike that it wouldn't be worth it for me. If you c...

Re: Triathlon Bike Help!!!
Depending on the components on that used bike I think you're paying too much for it. Agreed... Another thing about a used carbon fiber frame is that it's virtually impossible to detect any issues. From dealing with Cervelo, they do tend to have more frame issues than I have seen with Argon 18 or Fe...

Re: helmet technical question
All of my helmets are Giro. I just checked and they have little velcro bits on them.
You can use double sided tape, or little velcro dots that have double sided tape on them. I don't see that damaging the helmet.

Re: Situps or pushups
I would think that for distance running, the answer would be neither. Strong chest and triceps from pushups are not useful for running (and may detract due to added weight). For strengthening core, an isometric exercise like planks would be more appropriate for the demands of running, without the r...

A friend of mine has been developing this platform. I have a hand in designing the Endurance/Brick workouts. I get to post here... AGAIN! Indoor ride with the triathlon club - done. First one in 2 years. I survived, 90 minutes that weren't always pretty. I need to work on my 1 leg drills and um, getting used to being "in the saddle" again. I led the core-workout afterwards. My club-members will b...

I don't use mine anymore. I go to spin class instead. But I'm not training for anything long, so I don't need to do 2-4hr indoor rides anymore. Long rides are meant to be done outdoors, even if that means layering up and dealing with slushy Gatorade! I don't know how anyone sits on an indoo...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
So I'm feeling really good, and no I'm not going to run for another couple of weeks anyway. I promised myself I'd wait till AT LEAST 4 weeks before I made ANY sort of call on running, but I'll likely wait till 6 weeks. The risks totally outweigh the benefits IMO- I've heard too many scary stories a...
