Treadmill - on carpet?

I also have a really tight Berber carpet and three dogs. It has been over a year and no problems. I've only vacuumed it a couple of times and could have gone without. It is used at least 3 or 4 times a week for over a year.

Last Thursday of 2011

It's -30 up north here WITHOUT windchill. The dogs are refusing to go outside. I don't blame them. The dogs and I (all 5 dogs since my parents have 2) went snowshoeing yesterday but didn't last long because their poor paws started freezing up. It's supposed to warm up in a couple of days so snowshoe...

Merry Christmas

Everyone has a high CK at one time or another unless you live in a bubble in space with no chance of muscle breakdown or build up. I actually DO know what a CK level is, being a medical professional myself. We take that test all the time but never by itself.. Having not read the original post, I don...

Hydration Packs

Nathan HPL #020 Another vote for the Nathan HPL 020. I love mine and I've used it in most of my long ultras. Very comfy, no bouncing and can fit lots of stuff in the pockets and hang things from the straps. I have the same pack as UQ and Strider and I agree whole heartedly. No chafing, no bouncing ...

In beautiful cozumel! Swam with Dave yesterday morning from the beach in front of our condo. Then supported him on his hour ride, and followed that with a very hot 5k run. I'm was kind of wishing I was racing when we got here and there were all these people with bikes and supporting him on the ride...

Re: Vibram Five Fingers in the Winter

The biggest problem with the VFF in the winter is the grip. I tried it a few times in '09 when I first got mine (KSO) but they really really really suck on ice/slush. Other posters are right in that your feet warm up quick, but slipping around is another story. Totally agree and want to add snow-pa...

Re: Return to Running after Pleurisy & Partial Lung Collapse?

A few proactive doctors and dentists try to prevent something like this (and related illnesses) by prescribing antibiotics ahead of time to dental procedures with patients that might be more susceptible to infections. My mother, father and I all have to take antibiotics prior to any dental procedur...

Using a juicer

I go through juicer phases, about once or twice a year, usually in spring & summer. A lot of fruits I like the taste of but hate the texture get juiced (mangos being a great example). I usually only juice fruits because I love most vegetables whole.

Re: Hip Flexor - Physio or ART help.

I went to a RMT for (please correct my term if it is wrong) myofascial release therapy when I had an acute hip flexor injury last summer. It was really, really effective. I also go to my RMT to get it also once every two weeks for a chronic shoulder injury which really keeps it active and functional.
