Mike, don't worry. We have had 1 warmish day of 18, other than that chances are you will be running in wet snow! lol..Its been very nasty out so take comfort in that everyone will be in shock if it turns hot. The big issue is the #*%^#@(%& never ending wind!

I lived in Fort Lauderdale for a year. I used to think wearing extra clothes would help in case of a hot marathon here...in 2005..But after living, breathing, training, and racing in humidity 35C plus, I know now nothing can prepare you when you live in the cold and race day is hot. It took me almos...

One thing to note, despite the flatness, running on complete cement vs asphalt is very hard on your body. For this reason many marathoners find it not as easy as one would think. Also, running on a flat course is often harder on your body as it doesn't get a chance to change positions you would get ...

Alot of running/training is mental, literally! In the last year my body wanted to go but my mind did not. I agree, if you aren't training for anything specific just let it go. Don't be hard on yourself. I should listen to my own advice! Kristin Armstrong wrote a blog on Runners World, Mile Markers j...

Yes, those little neighborhoods scare me, I would probably zone out and be lost in suburbia and miss the meetings! Oh darn!
Thanks everyone this is great, I know I won't see much in the dark anyway but had been wondering safety wise if it was okay.

Running Routes in Markham?

I have to be in Toronto for meetings all weekend, staying at the Holiday Inn on Woodbine in Markham..Is there any decent routes around there for say a 13-15 mile run? Or should I endure the hotel dreadmill? Any Toronto Maniacs that might know.

Austin 12 mile River Road Run

On a lark and to get away from the cold I entered this scenic race just outside of Austin Texas. A co worker in our Seattle office, also a runner had a free ticket to use and asked if I would meet her there..Sure! I had 3 days off from running, and any type of working out. Just felt run down, tired ...

I have run 7 marathons and endless halfs, 10ks, 5ks. I am a terrible map reader and sometimes will drive a marathon course if I have the chance but other than that I go in with blind faith and perfer not to really know the course. I know I will not be the lead runner but also know I have run many ra...
