<<Spoiler Alert!!>>

Woow... what the heck happened to meseret defar down the stretch? I thought she had it in the bag. Look like she gave up after being passed by the two Kenyans. I wonder if she didn't pull something?

Too bad you weren't selected to run yourself, but what a great experience anyway. It must have been really rewarding to crew another person in such an extremely difficult race and what a great way to experience the course and conditions before you do eventually get a bib number. Great job.

I too have mild exercise induced asthma. It is triggered mostly by cold weather running, poor air quality and running at anaerobic pace. For instance, my breathing gets very ragged while racing 800m - 1500m. At these distances, it does have a limiting effect on my performance, however, at longer dis...

Absolutley breathtaking. How did you take the video? Thanks. It was fun making. I just bought the Sony HDR-CX100 video camera. It's flash based and small enough to run with, although it is still a little tricky keeping it steady enough while running. The Sony is good for a whole bunch of uses, but ...

I bought the 305 instead of the 405, because I thought that the bezel might be more trouble than discrete buttons. By the sounds of it, a good move. Sorry, I can't comment more on the 405.

There are probably hundreds of trails to explore in the Jasper / Banff region... but I have to admit an affinity to the Skyline. I think its probably the best hiking/running trail in the region. It's good and long and 3/4 of it is above treeline providing great views. It's at a pretty high elevation...

I'm highly skeptical that the results of Dr Scholls pressure pad "analysis" have anything to do with your actual "need" for orthodics. Whether or not anyone actually ever needs orthodics is debatable, but if so, it has to be based on what your foot is doing upon striking the ground while running... ...

I used the Steripen for six months in Sudan. Great device. It uses UV light to kill whatever is floating around in your water. Kills bacteria, viruses, spores. You can filter first to get rid of any large particles and I also bought the solar recharger to recharge the lithium battery. 44-90 seconds ...

Ha! $170, who'd pay that to simulate running barefoot? I mean come on, I'm willing to pay $90 but $170 is crazy!

(Of course, Maria just asks why I don't just take off my shoes and run in the grass?)

The company is completely out of stock in common sizes. I guess they never expected such a huge interest. So, I'm out of luck for now.

I want my VFF KSO's!

Nobody has Vibram Five Finger KSOs in stock (at least not in my size 43). I've tried Fast Trax and other local running stores but no luck. Can't even find them online anywhere. Guess I will have to wait until they have run some more off the production line. Haven't tried so hard to find a shoe ever....

yeah I saw both last weekend at Sin7. Petra is dynamite and incredible coming in 11th at worlds! I suspect Jack had back problems again as he didn't show up in the results. He's had to pull out of his last two races due to problems with his lower back. He's one of the top 2 or 3 ultra runners in Can...

I was thinking the same thing. One of my favorite workouts are 30-40 minute "T-Pace" runs. These will really help improve your lactate threshold. These are done at just under the max pace you can sustain for the run period at a constant, controlled effort. Best done on level ground. Try one or two o...

The "10% rule" is just a general guideline to help avoid overuse. Could be more, could be less. It depends on so many other factors incl your other activities, rest, running surface, diet, etc. Don't forget that you can't just keep increasing by 10% indefinitely. Every 2 or 3 weeks you should have a...

Like most, my first ultra was a 50k race... It's not to difficult to jump up from 42 to 50k. I think the bigger challenge for many is to transition from roads to trails. The dirt is a lot easier on the joints, but they require you to engage a whole new set of core and stabilizing muscles which a roa...

It was a heck of a race, but unfortunately my left knee just wasn't up to the whole distance. DNF'ed after the third leg, about 64km. A freak hailstorm on the back half of leg 3 turned the trail into rivers of mud. I've got to say that the Sin7 is way tougher than the CDR.
