Re: Unnamed Tuesday Thread
Everyone seems to be sick these days -- hope you feel better, IronBoy. But I am pretty sure Miami is at the end of January - maybe you could use your NYC training and target that one? Actually, I have a couple friends doing that one, and I've always thought I'd like to do the RnR New Orleans one, so...

Unnamed Tuesday Thread
It's 9am EST, and there's no Tuesday thread?! For my part, I've been on the fence about Philadelphia since yesterday. I ran 16k on Sunday, and I've been fighting a fever and knee & ankle pain since then. Sigh. It just may not be my year to run a marathon. Might take the day off work and try to s...

Re: Wake up - Saturday!
I talked to the local running guru, and he says:
16k today
5k tomorrow
10k Tuesday
8k Thursday
Then nothing til Philly three days later.
So...16k today!

Re: Philadelphia Marathon - 2012
I'm booked into the Residence Inn -- it's in the north east, not downtown, but it'll be easier if I can make breakfast the morning of the marathon.

Any worth mentioning?
To be honest, we didn't experience any negative vibes from New Yorkers (either that, or I'm oblivious -- which is possible).

Re: New Niagara area marathon
As long as this new race allows for race day pick up. I've found out a dirty little secret from a local race director. There is ALWAYS race day pickup, even when they say there won't be. Because there are always people who run into problems. They just won't advertise it. An aside -- worse comes to ...

Strider -- could I buy your hotel room off you? Not sure what it cost, but if it's downtown, it would be easier than the airport.

Re: Philadelphia Marathon - 2012
I am not going, wish there was a way I could give up my Bib to someone. No Transfers and No Defers I wish you could, too. I'd buy it in a second, for a friend. But, the important question is ... Do you have an affordable hotel room available ? Yes -- I've found a bunch of hotel rooms near the airpo...

Re: Philadelphia Marathon - 2012
What have you done since the non-marathon? Did you run that day? I wouldn't do any more than 20K this weekend, preferably Saturday. Then maybe 10K once after that. Sept 30 -- 35k Oct 7 - 21.1k Oct 14 - 17k Then a couple 6ks but not much in between because of the knee and then the ankle. 6k the Thur...

Re: Philadelphia Marathon - 2012
Do it Deanna. Remember half of that goes to hurricane relief. :) Just put my name into the lottery. I figure I can drive down early Saturday morning, then back Sunday night, to save on hotel room cost. it's only 7 hrs driving. So what do I do for training over the next 10 days...? I feel lik...

Re: Philadelphia Marathon - 2012
I'm seriously considering putting down my $200 for this race, even though it galls me to spend that much money after the NYC debacle. Website says sold out, or are they making exceptions for NY runners? They've "freed up" 3000 bibs for those with NYC reg numbers, and they are going to hav...

Re: Thursday's Tome
Went running last night, and did 8k. I was trying to figure out whether to cough up $200 (!) plus hotel and gas to run Philly's marathon, and was getting morose about it: "I haven't run much in more than 2 weeks, because I was injured then tapering....I don't know if I can even think of runnin...

Re: NY Marathon cancelled
Yes, they had sold all their bibs, but for some reason, they suddenly seem to be able to lottery off another 3000 -- not sure if these may have been reserved for charity runners, or if they expanded their original plan, in order to accommodate more runners. I'd have loved to see how 40000 people su...

Re: New Niagara area marathon
I've emailed asking for details. It's six months out, so I'm rather surprised that they don't have more info on the website.
I've asked about the course, the support level, the location, and whether it's an officially measured and timed course.
What other questions would you ask?
