Re: friday fun

O...M...G! I did 6.5k with the dogs and my friend Antonia today, and it was like running in hot soup! We kept stopping so the dogs could roll around in the water at the beaches! Usually, the drinking fountains are running in the parks, but they aren't turned on yet. So I had a dehydration he...

Re: Long Weekend Friday

Yesterday, 5.5k with a friend and Ruby the Wonder Dog. It was so beautiful out there -- not too hot. Today: TRX in the park while the boy plays, then cutting baseboards and patching drywall -- the bathroom reno continues! Tomorrow: 10k with Antonia and the dogs. Add to that -- lots of knitting! -- a...

Re: Cinco de Mayo

Supposed to be a rest day for me, but I spent an hour, running alongside my 7-yr-old's bike, helping him learn to ride. It was more of a workout than I'd anticipated -- I think I'd call it 5k race pace!

I hear you. There was snow on my windshield when I woke up on Saturday. But fortunately, it's +8 right now in Niagara, and going to a sunny +15. Perhaps this awful winter is finally at an end! :D

Spring(!) Tuesday

I got in a 5.5k run with a friend yesterday, and I'll do another 7k tonight. I'm slowly getting back into the groove; the sunshine really helps.

Thisis a great idea -- I can always use more socks, and there are some interesting ones out there (toe-socks to prevent blisters, funky colours, etc)

Re: Birthday present for runner

Just a couple ideas that came to me: a) there are a few "iconic" marathons/halfs that are fun to do. You could get him a bib for one, and plan a trip around it, even if it's in the future (Dublin/San Fran/Disney/Big Sur). I'd suggest a half, personally -- it's a little easier to enjoy a ge...

I loved reading the posts about why women *should* run. So very true...

I know I shouldn't rise to the bait as easily as I do but when I read the title of this thread, my blood started to boil. Sigh...

Apparently, my 42 yr old body doesn't handle two workouts in the same night as well as my 22 yr old body did. Who knew....!
So, it's a rest day for me!

Re: Rainy Thursday

I haven't posted much in a long time, but thought I'd visit again... I have been working on my strength training with TRX, trying to diversify my workouts, to not lose interest. As well, I have a new friend, Antonia, who's comfortable running 5k, and we're working on extending that out by running to...

I've been asked to participate in RunLikeAClydesdale's team. (No, I'm not an Athena or Clydesdale -- that's just the name of his website, etc.)
Thinking of doing it if I can get childcare coverage, etc.

More devices found and dismantled. I don't know what to do. It's extra scary because I don't feel "safe" here alone - because I'm not at home. My friend is working overnight so if I stay, I'm on my own until tomorrow. Stay put, and reschedule your flight -- stay safe. Your friend will be ...

My daughter lost all interest in running a couple years ago. Six months ago, she discovered the air cadets, and fell in love with it. She loves aviation and loves the structure of the air cadets -- no one was more surprised than I was that she excelled in that environment. No matter -- she loved it ...
